Good for obama. I can not fathom why this is such big issue for us. Let them get married, who cares.

Marriage should be between anyone, same sex or not. I support gay marriage and I applaud Mr. Obama on his statement, It is quite astonishing that the United States has been debating the issue of marriage for ages now and is already behind many other democracies in passing laws allowing gay marriage.

Honestly I am suprised about my latino brethren, we are a very religious people, but maybe the mentality we share has something to do with it, I am proud of that statistic.

But in all honesty, I don't understand the opposition to gay marriage. Can someone please tell me why Repubs (or at least Fox News Repubs) feel that gay marriage is bad. I have heard the "oh, but marriage is between men and women", oh, but we also used to where fucking fig leaves over our gentiles. I mean, does the apocalypse, or rapture or something happen if there is gay marriage? No, there isn't. It isn't like taxes are being increased, or spending is being increased, so why care if gay marriage is legalized.

I don't give a shit, because the church decides this, not the government (at least it should be this way)

so I can't understand people who say, "But in all honesty, I don't understand the opposition to gay marriage." if its their religion and it says marriage is between man and women and they don't want to chance that, so be it.

I can understand that, and that is completely natural. If you don't want to get married to a fellow member of your gender type, so be it. If it is against your religion, so be it. But to force all other people to forfeit their right to pursue happiness and all that shit is pretty despotic if you ask me. You shouldn't force people who do wish to get married to their fellow gender type to not ever have that opportunity.

The argument that marriage is a religious institution is a silly one. If that were the case then why me as an atheist am able to get married just fine. Heck I could sacrifice goats and pray to the devil everyday and a christian priest would still marry me.

You do have that opportunity, ever heard of civil marriage? Its different story if people get married in a religious building that beliefs that marriage is between man and woman, and no other. Its not right to take away that from them. Only is it right if the church wants to allow gay marriage.

Its not, you can go and get married in a magistrate. Because my impression is that Obama is talking about marriage in a church not civil marriage, or am I wrong? Also, so what if YOU thinks its silly, government has no business in interfering on church business, nor is church allowed to intervene on the government.

I wish someone here was like an insane religious nut and told everyone how we are going to hell for supporting gay marriage.
