After the Chinese Civil War between the Reds the Nationalists, the Nationalist loss and fled to the island of Taiwan. The PRC (People's Republic of China) demands to become one nation and the ROC (Republic of China) wants to sovereignty. Is it right for a government to demand land from from other factions despite consequences from other nations? So I am saying is should Taiwan continue to remain free or should the Mainland have control of Island?

It's been over over 60 years since the civil war ended.

It's hard to argue objectively that Taiwan shouldn't be a sovereign state.

I feel that the Republic of China (Taiwan) should remain its own country.

The PRC has no right to subjugate an independent nation.

The reason why I made this thread, is because I want the opinions on the "Socialists' and Communists' members on the forums" and see if they think the so called "communist government of mainland china" (not really, its really capitalist ) should have Taiwan. EX:Ler

Taiwan should certainly remain an independent country.

I might just point out that Taiwan has not yet given up its claims to the mainland.

I can't think of a reason right now, so it doesn't.
It was just one of those fun fact kind of things.

In any case I support China in this matter.

Except that even Taiwan's biggest backer doesn't acknowledge them as a country.

That reminds me, isn't Pottman from Taiwan?

That's rather insulting to the people of mainland China and Taiwan.

This is why we need Che back, this thread have turned into a literal clustefuck by now if he was here. I mean, who doesn't miss death-threats?

Anyhow, I really don't care much for the PRC and Taiwan. If I were to have to choose I would pick China over Taiwan simply because the PRC is bigger. Not that much of a reason, but I really don't really care for either government and I favor bigger nations over smaller nations.

I fail to understand what you mean.

I support the choice of the Chinese people.

I think it would be cool to see the two states unified again, simply because of the shared heritage, and culture between the two - it does strike me as sad that the two are separate. That being said, I wouldn't necessarily take the side of the capitalist PRC in any hypothetical war over the matter. (That's not to say though that I wouldn't be opposed to western intervention, though.)

Tl;dr, I'd like to see them unified, but I don't see it happening any time soon, nor do I really support either government.

    Yes and no.
I support their decisions in the matter. I don't particularly care what the specifics of their decisions are.

I personally support unification, but I don't support forcing people into it.

However, I would point out that Democratically (as this should probably be done on a Democratic basis), I acknowledge that the majority will end up deciding, not necessarily the individual.

The vote should include all the mainlanders, not just the islanders.
