Well... I have dealt with the species of wigger in my lifetime... It doesnt bother me, but when people who are not around minorities or hoods I start to wonder if its a culture thing or a relational thing.

I don't know what this "Midwest is white" bullshit is about. In both my hometown and Lawrence, there is a very large presence of minorities. In my high school, something like 40% of students were Hispanic, and about 10% black.

Lawrence, where I go to college, has long had a significant black population. Probably a good quarter of students attending KU are Asians (read: Han bastards), and most of them are of the ethnically enclaved variety that can't speak English well. There's also a lot of Arabs that attend, but I think almost all of them are international students or first-generation Americans, because they're always speaking Arabic and retain some of the more archaic cultural/religious practices like the hijab and niqab.

The theme for my orientation last year was "diversity" and they spent a good long while telling us about the demographics of the city and campus.

I don't know, everybody says it, well all the kewl kids anyway, black people don't mind it, and it's funny seeing the reactions of various people when social boundaries and norms are broken. Also, fuck it, I do what I want.

@Kali, its cause the midwest is whiter than the east and west coasts. Lots of Latinos and Asians in the west, lots of blacks, latinos, and asians in the east. In the Midwest, minorities are still minorities.

They are minorities everywhere.

There are some places where there are more minorities than whites.

Just the ebb and flow of society. When my mom was a kid in the same town, the former, it was mostly white, first or second generation Italians. They moved out and African Americans and Latino's moved in. Before the Italians it was the Irish. Interestingly, though, I only moved one town over. Also, thinking back on it, it was probably more like 10% white students.
