This is a question that's been bothering me for a long time now, should loyalty to family comes first before everything else? that you should disregard all other loyalties such as towards your country, friends, neigbours etc.

Loyalty should be assigned to those you care about, or where it is worth it. So if your family fits those criteria, then sure.

    But that's just my belief.

I have to agree with shaw, your highest loyalty should be to whatever you care about the most.
For me, family fits this. I care more about my brother or mother then my country.

It really depends on how you feel. No one can tell you where your loyalty lies.

Your loyalty is to the state and preserving its best interest at heart (or what you think are its best interest)

*But really your loyalty is to whatever you care about I.E Your family

And who ever was representing that god would be a very very rich man, maybe with his own city.

As has been said already, loyalty should be given to those you care about and respect the most. I am only loyal to my father as the rest of my family and I aren't that close but I am extremely loyal to my friends.

Your loyalty should (my mind) belong to the greater good of mankind.
(Of course the greater good of mankind is, as a concept, open to interpretation)
