So much bullshit, so little time.
I would like to say my opinion of abortion is after 7 months an abortion isn't an option mainly because the child can survive at seven months if its an early birth.

First you argue it is life. A I have said already It fits none of the descriptions of life. It doesn't collect its own food/ get nutrients on its own, it can't breathe on its own, it can't think even the smallest thoughts, it can't reproduce, Do anything? (You need at least one of these in order to be life.) Next you argue that they are something even though they haven't created any legacy outside there parents talking about having a baby. After that, is the argument that life begins at conception, which is also bullshit seeing as though most people go through there days imagining on one day having children (Is that life, by your logic it is.) I already talked about your shit until we get to talk about the fetuses (Lets assume its a boy and call him Franky.) possible future life. When I speak about Franky I speak of the other scenario than the "it could be next Einstein!". I obviously don't believe Franky will be next Hitler instead an Average Joe, but that's beside the point. The point is, is that this child is part of the mother, are you going to take away the mothers right as a person what they can and cannot do to there own body? Later I talk about the possibility of a female being raped which in short you say in short "Fuck that the baby must be born!" I think it takes common sense to figure out why that's stupid. Later, you counter argue why are the parents having babies if they can't afford one! Well two reasons. Sex if fun and mistakes happen. <---reason number 1 repeated in 2. Now you argue that a lady who wants an abortion dies is A-okay because they break the law. Now there is adoption which I apologize for being I wasn't clear for that first part allow me to rephrase. "Has it ever occurred to you that maybe a parent doesn't want to put Franky up for adoption, where they will live a miserable childhood if not adopted?" *Everything not mentioned is bullshit and was omitted for people who think logically.*

I'm not going to participate in this debate because I detest it, but I'd like to clear some things up:

    1) Fetuses are clearly living. Even if you don't want to consider them as an independent organism for some ridiculous reason, they are objectively alive.

    2) There is no question that fetuses are human. It's a simple fact that they are members of our species.

    3) The primary issue at hand in the abortion debate is actually the personhood debate: if fetuses are established as people then they possess inviolable rights, chief among them the right to life.

    4) Personhood is the primary issue, but it's not the only one: some people think sentience is all that's necessary for fetuses to possess in order to receive protection, because meguka is sufferin' etc.

    5) Rape is in the extreme minority as a reason for abortion. "Convenience" is undoubtedly the major reason, but it's also extremely vague and it's been established that abortions correlate strongly with poverty.

    6) Lastly, fetuses could grow up to be either Hitler or Gandhi: doesn't really matter because there's simply no way to tell.

Jeez, more talk about Hitler or Gandhi. You guys are so uncreative. They're not the only figures that stand out that could be used yet that's almost all anyone says.

I used it because people had previously tried both arguments in this very thread.

I think you should explain why does he look like an ass and why do you think hes wrong about abortion.
Anyway a lot of people here dont know that you need a LOT of money to raise even one child,
and its funny because these people cant even afford to raise a baby yet they want every single one of them to be raised by their (sometime single) mothers.

    That's your problem, not mine.

The fate is exactly the same, in both cases, something is removed. The difference is that you're against removing an "inconvenience" that might severe hurt, and in some cases kill the mother, and become a massive economic drain on the parent(s).

And you're justifying it with "they don't agree with me".

Now, don't get me wrong, with me stating my support of the possibility of an abortion, I'm not saying every single pregnancy should be aborted without any thought.

No, I was referring to the fact that you, at that point, failed to respond to everything that was said to you, using the video as an example. To this point, you've failed to explain yourself, making it look like you simply lack the argumentation to do so.

Good for you. That's hardly a guarantee it'll never change.

"Yes, there are problems, there will always be problems!".
I just had to throw in an El Presidente quote.

Of course, we have plenty of ideas on how to increase food production output, but for some reason people are against it.

I'm going to trust biologists to do that for me, thank you very much.

    I guess I will, then.

It wasn't an insult, it was an assumption based on earlier experiences.

Can't seem to find it back...must've been someone else, then.

Yes, it is. You're just too naive to think otherwise.

...Looking back, I must say I can hardly say what the hell I was trying to say myself. I should go to bed earlier.

One thing I never understood about abortion, was why the hell do people all of a sudden care about life ? When it comes up, I mean seriously how many of you actually thought about the people dying in Africa. Or the War's today ? And maybe that starving bum on the street today who was begging for food. I mean come on, no one gives a crap about that but when all of a sudden some woman want's a abortion it's " OH you whore ! child murderer !!" How dare you have sex ! You should have that child ! Then when they want assistance from the government to raise that kid, people go It's their problem. They got knocked up, so why the fuck should I pay anything ? I mean the way I look at it is, if your not going to raise the child, why do you care ? Because if you really did, you'd raise that child. Then you got those people who go, Put it up for adoption ! The adoption rate is really slow, it's not uncommon to see kids who are 15,16 at shelters and what not waiting for a adoption. But by the time their at that age no one want's them, because no one want's to raise a 15, or 16 year old. Especially one that isn't their own. And even if they do get a home who say's it,ll be a good one ? It's not uncommon for child molestors to adopt children and do things to them, or a adoptive parent being abusive. The reason why foreign adoption is so popular, is because you can easily get passed the American adoption system which really sucks, currently.

@TheRedHeadGamer I honestly don't think those things. As I said, the number one priority of every human on this planet should be the preservation of human life. I also live in the UK, which has a fairly good benefits system that makes it easier to bring up a child under harder conditions.

Potential beings don't have the same rights as actual beings

Generally we do differentiate between actual and potential beings, and we distinguish between their rights, too. Many of the rights of a potential person are only potential rights - they only become actual rights when the person becomes an actual person.
So, for example, a 10-year-old is a potential voter, and has the potential right to vote, but he or she doesn't get the actual right to vote until he or she reaches her or his 18th birthday and becomes eligible to vote. And another example: the heir to the throne is a potential king, but he doesn't have the rights of a king until the present monarch dies.

    From here.

It is not your life you are going to choose to end though, it is taking life away. A human life. I honestly can't see how people justify abortion. Because they are a rape victim? You kill a foetus because half of it's a genes come from a rapist's, it doesn't make sense to me. I honestly find it impossible to comprehend that people advocate abortion, I would never stop it from happening if it was what someone really wanted, but how people say that it is not an immoral option is beyond me.

This doesn't make sense to you? You obviously have no clue how psychologically harmful rape is or the psychological impact of carrying your rapists child. That isn't something any woman should have to go through. In fact that would be enough to drive some people off the edge. She was forced to have sex against her will, then she should carry the baby and suffer through that for months more? Growing the child of the very man who hurt her and she hates inside of her. Every day of her pregnancy reminding her of one of the worst experiences of her life. Pregnancy and birth is a torturous experience even for mothers who want the child and have it with someone they love. I certainly wouldn't have it and I wouldn't want the child of a rapist to be put up for adoption either as his or her father was obviously very messed up in the head and there's a chance the child would be too.

I was curious, @C_G how do you feel about executing (the worst) criminals? You claim that all human life should be preserved so I thought it would be a relevant question.

I'm just going to be boring and cliche, but here I go.

I feel like this is a debate two people in a relationship should be having, not a debate to try and implement policy.

I am against it, because it is human life.

At what point do you believe a foetus becomes a person?

That's a really stupid metric. Why is an organism any more or less of a person when it has the capacity to survive on its own?
