    @yuri2045

    Is Brasil really socialist based? What about the slums and drug gangs?

    I didn't say it was socialist based. By 'Socialist bases' I meant that there are a lot of socialists in South America, and that the socialist movements are relatively strong down there, compared to most most of the west.

    Yeah back in the 70s-80s, nowadays most south American governments are conservative, with the exception of Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia, and Brasil, what do you mean bases? Like enclaves? Or literal resistance.

    I guess I was a little vague with my wording. By bases, I meant population bases, as in, a high percent of South-American calls themselves socialists, at least compared to most of the western-world.

    Most brazilian people are socialists, hence why we have a socialist party in power right now. The socialist movements in Brazil rose in strength during the 80s, or during the military dictatorship in here, our current president and our last were arrested during those socialist movements along with lots of other people.

    Not that America has ever really been opposed to supporting dictatorships....especially if they're replacing an anti American dictatorship with a pro American one.

    We helped Castro get in power, and then he found better friends with the Soviets. We also supported Santa Ana which is a city in Orange County. I don't know if we ever supported Santa Anna.

    Yes, if it is successful in Syria then Lebanon and other countries will probably begin mass protests and possibly even open revolution.
