Aristotle actually discouraged the use of ad hominem as a useful argumentative tool. He thought it weakened the argument. I think that it is more detrimental to a person's arguments, because on most occasions they end up looking like a giant douche-bag, and more of the audience will agree with their opponent because they do not like the speaker using the ad hominem style of arguing. This has happened to you, Kali, on several occasions. Here you can get away with it, because Scipio's perceived douche-baggery is much greater than the douche-baggery of your ad hominem.

Why does everyone want to pussify society? who cares if you call some spic a spic, this is just a "OMG YOU HAVE DIFFERENT IDEAS, I MUST LOCK YOU UP FOR DA GOOD OF MY SOCIETY!" thread. Even suggesting this is disgusting.

Using the word pussy objectifies women as much as using the word dick objectifies men. In other words it doesn't.

Not really, that's not how a patriarchy works, men face repression of expression in the process, but there still seen as head of society.

Yes, nobody thinks "haha women are weak" when they use the word pussy, but it does have a effect towards the stereotypes of women.

But the thing is we are not a patriarchy. Believe it or not there is no secret cabal of men plotting to keep the women down. Calling the US or western society in general a patriarchy while real patriarchies exist in places like Pakistan(you know places where women are imprisoned or mutilated when they're disobedient) is not only stupid, but downright disgusting.

I don't know about you but when someone calls me or someone else a pussy, it doesn't make me think "oh the women are inferior and weak".

Don't turn into Kali now, I actually like you.
Now, lets not get ahead of ourselves with the political correctness...go read Fahrenheit 451 and see where political correctness gets us.

It is though. Saying the "suffering" the women in our society experience is any where near the suffering women go through in places like Iran, is just ridiculous.

I agree, but its still ad hominem. I'm more likely to agree with you if you're not being a dick about being right (not saying your comment was dickish, but it was bordering). I absolutely despise the way Kali gets across his points, not really the arguments themselves.

It really doesn't. Women are equal in our society and in some sense even have an unfair advantage(child custody, cases of sexual harassment etc).

Not really, most wives are stay at home, take care of the kids housewifes for example.

The reasons why women have unfair advantages in the courts is because women are seen as weak and as child bearers while the man is expected to work.

Those women(and it's not most) choose to stay at home, there is no law banning them from work, hence this not a patriarchy.

Why? you should care about the point that is being made not how it's made. I was not being personal, I think that Lenin cat's arguments are disgusting because he is comparing what women in our society go through with women who actually live in patriarchies and saying they are the same thing. If this offends you apologies, but the idea that objectifying women by using the word pussy, is anywhere near the same level as a girl getting acid thrown on her face because she tried to go to school is disgusting.

Women choose to, but mostly because society as a collective group drags them to do it. Why dont men wear skirts? Because its not socially acceptable. Its the same thing here.

If you want to use a skirt, fine by me;Scottish people do (I know I know, it's a "kilt" bloody hell). Now, if you start wearing mini skirt, well.... (here is where I get accused of homophobia)
