Well with that whole RPG maker I want to know if there is one anyone knows of that is free. Also I am going to ask @Chives about this since he is the only person I know who has made a game. If I cant make a strategy game then a Text BASED adventure game.

    Well...
    I program in C, although I'd recommend C++.
C++ is newer and is actually still being updated with new tools and utilities every couple of years.

I use the open source Orwell's Dev-C++ from Sourceforge.net for an IDE, but unless you're really interested in getting into programming, I'd suggest downloading Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express and looking into some of their tutorials to figure out how all of it works.

And a great site to learn about C and C++, as well as a great reference is CProgramming.com.
It's what I use for reference on some things.

But you should probably just start out with Python 3000, which is a lot simpler and easier to learn.

Although, ultimately, this is a pointless response, since you'll never make that game.
    Programming is difficult.
    Really difficult.
Learning a programming language and making a game from it is comparable to learning a second language, then writing a book in it. If you wanted to make anything decent out of it, it's going to take years.

Even my dinky little choice-based story game is going to take me months and months to complete, debug, and polish.
I'm still working on the basic engine that the game, and possibly others, will run off of.

I have alot of good ideas for games but the more and more I think of the storyline it ends up being really retarded. I want to make a game some day, I plan on going to college or atleast taking classes on making video games of where you have many examples of America being invaded in the Cold war, but never Russia. I have never heard of a game like it. It is alot more interesting and complex that it sounds.

Also I understand that it doesnt take a week to make a game. I am going to start out small and try to get better.

Spree is pretty good, I made some AI files using that engine, and made really rudementry models, I agree with Chives Python and C++ are great tools, also there free.

Last I checked Korea invaded America, not America invading USSR.

Why not quote the whole sentence quite we're at it, considering the entire thing doesn't actually make sense.

What I was trying to say-

There are a million games where America is invaded in the Cold war.
I want to make a game where Russia is invaded in the Cold war.

    It is an interesting thought.
Yet what Chives say is true, it won't happen. Of course if you had the money....

    That's racist or something.
    Money is irrelevant to programming.
