I have to say you probably win the award for the most interesting psychological study on the forums, if such an award were to exist. You've thought about the impact of your family to a point where it is almost unnatural. Whereas most people probably look at the important bits, it seems that you have collected them and vigirously analysed them. How close are you to your family? If you had to move across the world for whatever reason, how much would you miss them?
Run a scenario in your head where the Marxists were right about everything all along. Now tell us about it.
It doesn't make logical sense to use certain adjectives in the comparative and superlative forms. This is frowned upon in most of the civilized world but it appears that it is treated with considerable lenience in places where people sleep with their shoes on.
I don't think it's unnatural to think about your family in that way. To describe them that way to others is probably unnatural, but then I didn't say those things to inform my audience of them, I said them because I felt like saying them. It's a rare venue that allows you to speak with honesty, and for me it's rare that even then you would speak that way, but in this case I felt like doing so. I wouldn't say I'm very close to my family. I understand them for the most part, but I don't think any of them understands me, and I wouldn't want them to. Understanding me would require an unhealthy amount of esoteric knowledge, and would burden your mind for no good reason. Well, I always consider the possibility that I'm wrong. In fact, I routinely say things knowing that I'm wrong and that I could point that out to myself. However, as I said previously, I think that knowledge simply enhances the hold that your ordained role has on you. I'm here to play a part, and whether or not I think I'm right has little to do with it. That said, communists simply can't be right about everything. Maybe it's true that they could bring us some everlasting utopia and eliminate suffering, but I don't hold pleasure or suffering up as particularly valuable things.
If you could change one thing about America, what would you change and why? You said you lied in debates because the people listening/reading usually assume you're telling the truth. Have you ever lied in a forum debate that wasn't trolling? What do you plan to do with your life after college? What kind of advice would you give me as a person going into college to major in history and education? Will you ever start your god damned Silent Hunter 4 LP again?
None of this changes the fact that there are now hordes of militarized proles marauding across the land, heading straight for you. Battle plan Kali, do or die.
Bring back the Chinese Exclusion Act for Imperial's sake. Yep. Though only in the PA. Work for the State Department at an embassy or consulate, most likely. Be a history teacher? I don't really know what value a history major has aside from allowing you to teach history. More generally speaking, in college what matters is that you do the work you're given and take all the opportunities for extra credit that are available to you. Man, anything can happen.
I meant more along the lines of, "what advice would you give me for majoring in 2 fields that the economy wants no part of?" Extra credit is always good though.
Pssh, as if any of those blue-collar lowlifes could get anywhere near me. It'd be easy to spot them coming, since they'd generate a dust storm wherever they went, what with their intolerable dirt-farming. I think there'd be two options for dealing with a crowd of those things: either dress up in a suit and tie and explain how they're being lied to by evil demagogues, or don some overalls and a straw hat and join in the tyranny. You'd be better off asking pedro or your adviser about that sort of thing.
I'm not very satisfied with that answer, I know you're leaving some details out. I am genuinely interested in learning why you've returned and what made you return.
