Do you remember the kings and presidents who did nothing?

Well you are asking the wrong person. Go to the average American walking down the street and ask them of a president who did nothing.

No, but there are other impotant things a leader can do, other than declaring war.

What about political, social and economic reform, or, for that matter, fighting against all the lunatics who want to take over the world. (Wellington, Nelson, Churchill etc.)

I'm not going to lie... I just spent the better half of a minute staring at my last post trying to see what you changed in the quote before I realized what you meant...

@Riddick (I like Chives better) You can't blame the entire war on Germany. France, Russia, and Austria wanted it just as much as the Germans did.

France and Austria had no interest in having a war like this.

France had little to gain from it other than Alsace-Lorraine and Austria knew that it would ruin them.

    Uh... Bullcrap.

Germany had overseas colonies. At the time, when Imperialism was still supported, people grabbed land without considering the value of the land they took. Thus, the German holds in Africa went to the victor. Though it feels they didn't need to take back anything MORE than Alsace-Lorraine... I am pretty sure they took more because they can.

On a more separate note, you know how in Skyrim when you enter other cells (or rooms) with people close by and you just explode into that room with such a force that the people you were near enter that room with you?

I feel I am similar in a sense. Whenever I make or enter a thread, the trolls who are online seem to enter with me. :3

France had colonies to gain, as well as Alsace-Lorraine. Also, they hated Germany and wanted to get some revenge for the Franco-Prussian war. Austria obviously didn't think that since they declared war on Serbia knowing that Russia would defend them. Austria had Serbia, Montenegro, and parts of Poland to gain from this war.

That doesn't mean that they didn't want any spoils of war.

Montenegro as well, which is just fine with them. That's what they wanted. That's why they declared war. If they didn't want Serbia, then they wouldn't have gone to such lengths for them.
