So your policy is as follows, eat this shitty Lunch or starve.

Also, can you imagine how enraged you would be if the government forced kids to eat the most unhealthy lunches possible or get to starve? You'd probably burn down Congress then and there. But if a parent does it you are perfectly fine with it.

    Double standard much?

You're not seriously suggesting 13 year olds should get free choice as to what they want for lunch?

EDIT: Hohoho, couldn't resist it. But on a serious note, I think everyone would agree parents should be the first ones to make choices as to what their children can do. The argument is whether the state should step in if the parents are useless.

The point is freedom of choice. You can voluntarily eat the lunch at school if you want to. Not everyone does. Even if you are packed a lunch from home you may not eat it. We should not force people to say what they can and cannot eat.

For the most part Children are far too stupid to make choices like what to eat. They'll take what tastes better 99% of the time. Hell, I used to sneak out of the school to get ice cream from McDonalds. Kids are stupid and for the most part incapable to handle free choice in most aspects.

Of course. But it's one of those voluntarily things that people generally accept as a mere formality in most cases. Like how you can voluntarily accept your Tax Refund.

Yes, but the general number is so high that it may as well be everyone taking it.

Ya, but that doesn't make it any less of a stupid idea.

    We don't.

You know, you never answered my question. How can you be so in favor of a Mom forcing their child to eat complete shit or starve, over giving children free, nutritious lunches for free that they can choose to eat or not?

Also, you came out in favor of this guys argument, but this is probably how the events actually went:
-Kid brings shit in candy form to school.
-Lunch aid takes it away because it's shit and gives the kid the free lunch.
-Kid is a whiny asshole and runs to her parents.
-Parents are deconstructive assholes, so instead of just filing a complaint (which would probably stop the problem) they go to the media.
-Media blows it up by saying that the Government forced a little, innocent girl to eat their food over the "perfectly good lunch" their parents packed.

To answer, I am not in favor, but I do not feel that the school had a right to take the lunch. Also, you don't know what the lunch exactly was. The parents have a right to take the complaint to where they want. As far as I am concerned its your choice to be eat what you want or not. Also, I know some children that rarely eat sweets and in fact eat more vegetables, so its there freedom of choice to. Do not regulate to that children can't make their own choices in terms of food because most of them simply want candy.
