Total Freedom of Speech is Bad

Well anyway, I don't think its fair to judge nations based on their level of Racism because it just isn't fair to all of the normal, un bigoted people living their. Calling Americans racist establishes a stereotype, and I think we can all agree that stereotypes are bad.

So I think we came to the conclusion that total freedom of speech is good.

I hereby declare this debate officially OVER! (Please note, I in no way have authority to declare anything, at all. So if anyone wants to continue, go for it. I'm open to further debate).

Freedom of speech is a human right. Who are you to decide what can or can not be said simply because you disagree with it?

Come over here to the Czech Republic, and hear the racist things people say about the Roma community (the Gypsies). I heard one person say to me in a class "I'm not racist, but they can go back to India and steal from people there." I had to put my jaw back in my mouth.

The fact is that there's racism everywhere. While I lived in Germany, the Germans complained that the Polish stole all their cars and that Turkish men were tacky, hair-jelled douchebags. Then I had a Polish gf for about a year, and the Polish gave me an earful about how German women looked liked "fat pigs" compared to real Slavic beauty. Now I live in the Czech Republic, and some Czechs told me that Polish women are "whores who believe in God" and the Germans are closet Nazis.

I think there's racism everywhere. Usually, the best way to be a decent human being is try to respect people and not be a douche.

I believe people have a right to express their views.
This can be done either tactfully, or in a horribly racist way. The former I see as somebody exercising their right to hold those views, the other is simply awful, and, in my opinion, should not be allowed.

See here's the problem. That person spouting racist views (in your opinion) thinks what he's saying is completely correct and that the people saying stuff he disagrees with should be silenced. Just because most of society agrees its not morally right, doesn't mean dog crap, because everyone has different beliefs and morals and views on the world. I am perfectly entitled to shout I HATE ALL MOTHERFUCKING NIGGERS, THEY SHOULD GO BACK TO THE FUCKING CONGO! because I am not actually doing any harm to anybody, just expressing my beliefs. I am in no way going up to a black person and punching him in the face or trying to get people to kill all the blacks, which woud be to far. I am simply stating what I think is right, just like you right now are stating what you think is right. There isn't much difference, other than my views might be perceived to be offensive to many. If we went around silencing anyone who said anything that offended someone, then the entire population of the world would be unable to speak their minds, because there is always someone that is going to be offended by what they say.

At this point, I would post a bunch of videos with Theo Maassen and Hans Teeuwen about freedom of speech, but as they're in Dutch, and I don't feel like translating every word, I'm not going to. I am going to say that they're for full freedom of speech, and I fully agree with them.

Nobody ever expressed an intelligent opinion, or view point through hate speech. It's funny how the people who most support 'Full freedom of speech' are the ones who are the very least effected by hate speech - Middle and upper class white people.

I don't consider wishing death upon the Jews/Blacks to be any form of intelligence which ought to be protected by society.

Not really. Those who use their full freedom of speech get a lot of hate thrown at them, both vocal and physical.

It's so much about restricting unintelligent speech, as it is restricting hateful, and stupid speech. If you go around calling black person 'Nigger' and telling Jews that you hope there will be a new holocaust, then yes, I absolutely think you should punished. By restricting freedom of speech, you wouldn't be banning people's right to say whatever stupid shit they wanted. You'd just be telling them that if they wish death upon a certain race, in front of a member of that race, they will be dealt with.

This is just stupid. Poor people are sensitive authoritarians now? If anything, from my experiences, you got that backwards.

The problem is that they still think it, and in essence you're not doing anything about the "problem", you're putting your hands in front of your face and denying it exists, all the while screaming "BLAH BLAH CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER HOW AWESOME CENSORSHIP IS!". If someone expresses a certain view, at least you know what you're dealing with, and you can easily ignore idiots like that. I mean, you're not telling me you actually take people like serious, do you?

That's exactly what would happen. As soon as someone says something, and another screams "ZOMG I'M SO OFFENDED" they get silenced, because someone was offended. It's ridiculous bullshit, and only promotes removing your spine, grinding it to a powder and feeding it to a bunch of fish.

Blowing your mind, I support full freedom of speech, but keep ignoring my earlier posts, Racism is something that I understand, that many in my community understand. Freedom of speech is what makes this country that we live in great I don't care if you hurt my feelings, but when you've been exposed to it for a long time you grow immune. Btw I'm a Low class minority living in LA a cesspool. Deal with it your wrong.
