Assumong it breaks like in supreme ruler 2020, it would be 50 states and DC getting independence. I would not be surprised, however, if an extremely decentralized USA was still maintained to (try) to keep peace among the states (like an eu but without the power to do much, like the league of nations more)

It has a huge potential for it. While western economy is a shit storm, Russia has it's shit together and it's economy is one of the fastest growing. Some day I believe that they could get that status.

My step dad thinks Mexicans and blacks are taking over the country and trying to segregate against white people which will lead to the collapse of the US...conspiracies, conspiracies everywhere.

*For those of you who didnt get it, no I do not agree with what my step dad says on just about anything*

Meh, it is the slowest growing of the BRIC countries.

For the time being Russia lost most of it's influence in the world:

-ex Warsawpact countries are part of NATO and actively hate on them
    - Serbia, recently declared to work towards EU membership
    - Georgia wants to become part of NATO, after the war hates on them
    - Africa, most of Russias influence changed over to China, EU and the US
    - Sozialist southamerica pretty much relies on china only sides with russia to counterbalance us influence
    - Iran, stopped listening to russia a long time ago, still remains allied to them though
    - Syria, dependent of outcome of the soon to be civil war, with the threat of saudis king to rain money on the rebels against assad i wouldn't bet on russias influence there.
-russia-china rellations are difficult as allways. But the chineese are far away from acting in russias favors, they do what is good for them.
    - south east asia pretty much is devided betwen us and china, no space for the ruskies

All in all russia stands pretty much alone in the world. Name one nation that is influenced by moscow and considers itself an ally of russia, out of free will. Yea there are not many left. The only reason Russia is still considered a super-power is it's nuklar capabilyties. Tecnological, Manpower and Industrial as Political there is still a lot of work to do before they can be taken as a true super power again.

Two things need to happen for Russia to be a superpower once again. First, Russia needs a population boom as has said before. Second, Russia's economy needs a kickstart. And that kickstart can come from the Siberian oil fields and mineral deposits. Russia needs to take advantage of those and use Siberian oil and mineral money to really expand and advance their military and become powerful on the world economic stage. Once those happen, Russia will be a superpower on par with the US, and one that goes against many US interests.

The two things, if we're to simplify this down to its lowest common denominator, that made Russia a superpower in the first place were Communism and World War II. Quite frankly, I don't see a Russia under Kerensky experiencing the staggering economic and military growth that it had in the Stalin period - completely isolated from the Great Depression. Then World War 2 happened and Russia really made it to superpower status by simple virtue of the fact that they had possession of a huge, powerful army and roughly half of Europe. And again, without the maniacal economic planning of communism, they couldn't have hoped to rebuild the staggering damage done to their country in so short a time. Even in western europe it sure as hell wasn't private industry that came to pick up the pieces.

Russia today is a far cry from the USSR when it was on the rise, and with the difficulties it faces today, I don't easily see it rising to true superpower status again any time soon, since they only really got there in the first place thanks to a set of very favourable circumstances.
