I am NOT insulting video games or any company for the record. With all this talk about Mass effect made me think that video games are starting to " play " us. This whole ME3 ending and indoctronation theories ( sorry, you guys know I have poor spelling skills ) has made me think about games. I have seen giant arguements and documentories up to almost 3 hours long on the ending. Some of us are getting to involved in gaming and you can pretty much see it everywhere. Advertising- All of us have had this moment when a TV ad comes up for a game and you are so into it you cannot help but want to buy it. We dont bat an eye when we spend 50,60, even 70 or 80 dollars on a game. And half the time some of us dont wait to see user ratings and buy it right away and get screwed over. And also alot of commercials I see are for gaming, on the channels that gamers are even a medium audicince about 1/5 or 1/6 are for games. Gameplay- Some of us put hundreds of hours into games like L4d2, ETW, Skyrim, or any other game. Its fine and I understand they are fun but we need to spend time in this wonderful green earth. Alot of us have even lost sleep over a game, when RDR first came out I could not go to bed because it was so fun. Rage- All of us have done it. Let games that are supposed to be fun make us rage and sometimes make us destroy our own shit. Games can make you get extremely angry sometimes no matter what it is. I might add more reasons later, I am too tired.
Not everyone destroys their own shit. However, if you don't get mad at videogames, you're probably not doing it right
I can see what Lighthouse means, but so far I have seen no evidence that games 'control' us more than TV, films or books might. Or, for that matter, sports games.
Well I didnt mean everyone. I meant a few. I typed sometimes. Well I dont mean control like puppets but they change ours lives.

Video games don't control us, they can just alter our interactions with them, at least that's how I view it.
You kind of are. Because we have spent long times on these games. They have sucked us into the lore like a movie franchise (Star Wars), book series (Harry Potter) and television series (Lost). And when we see something wrong, we feel we have a duty to say what is wrong. Come on. Really. Advertising. You could say the same thing about every commercial product out there. Sham Wow. Oxyclean. Do the people who go buy it really research into it. No, they don't, just as you say we don't really research the games we buy. I don't think that the people on this website are that stupid to just stay in their houses all day and just play videogames, day in, day out. And also, for people still living with their parents, be it a teenager or older, it is the parents duty to make sure their kid gets out of the house and monitors what their child buys. And do we let that rage affect our relations with other people, or let it affect how we act outside of where we play? Hopefully, we don't. We rage at a game while we play, we get off, and we do something else. I don't see why getting angry really is a bad thing. [/quote]
