Not who would win the war, but who would win the battle, the Locust or the Covenant?

I'm a big fan of both series and noticed some similarities between them, notably their military caste systems and their use of numbers to win. Obviously the Covies are advantaged by their superior technology, so let's assume that it's the Locust who are attacking - from underground, and in order for the Covies to win, they would have to infiltrate the hollows. The locust have everything we've seen from them so far and the Covies are in their Halo: Reach state.

I would pay to see this, and I would pay even more to play it.

    What do you think?

On a side note, what might be some more interesting mash ups? CoG vs UNSC and Lambent vs Flood would be some good ones from the same series. But i'm sure you could think of more.

Edit: in this fictional universe, outer space doesn't exist, so the covenant don't have any space ships.

Locusts have the numbers advantage, but Covenant have major tech advantage. Really depends on whether or not their shields hold up.

Do numbers really count in the hollows? If not then The Covenant win due to the quality of their infantry, shock troops in particular, alone.

For the Locust it matters, since they can take advantage of the unique terrain.

Well if their going to be in the Hollows. How do you guy's think the Covenant Troops would deal with Imulsion ? I'd like to think it would give the Covenant, iron lung like it did with the Cog's. Since they had never been around the stuff.

    * Edit* Nevermind I forgot Humans turn lambent too.

Well, the battle wouldn't be fought exclusively in the hollows, it would open up with a locust surprise attack on a covenant position, and the Covies would be required to infiltrate the hollows. And remember, energy shields never stopped humanity. But really neither of them have faced an enemy like the other. It's really up in the air to me.

I didnt play Gears of war 3 yet but didnt the locust have like a civil war in eithier the beggining of GOW3 of end of GOW2? So I guess it depends on the time peroid because I only played 2 halo games and did not beat eithier one so I dont know when they were strongest/weakest.

Ok going with the Locusts here, there soldiers and tactics are superior to the covenent personally the covenant tactics are just retarded. Also the covenant would just glass the planet from orbit if thy took to many casualties.

Well they are jolly well fucked without spaceships, if 1 human can kill 100 elites when they DO have then than they are screwed.

Well I think the covenant would win after a while, because one elite is actually (according to the books) equal to one spartan in terms of strength, not to mention they are extremely intelligent.

But are they smart enough and strong enough to handle a surprise attack from underground, and then launch a subterranean counterattack?

I would assume the same thing would happen like what happened between the Human and Locust, although I would assume the covenant would recover alot faster then humans.
