Basically this is an interest thread for a game where we will be playing as different city states on a very detailed map of Europe. You may choose the name, politics, leaders, policies, and anything else about your nation. The game starts in the Classical age, so you may use Roman and Greek era buildings, weapons, units, etc. 1 day IRL is 1 year in the game, and I will be keeping track of year. Lets start in 450 BC. There will be no godmodding and colonizing uninhabited provinces has a limit (one province per day to start). Battles will take place in turns with BOTH PLAYERS involved. This is meant to be a long term game, and hopefully will be something we can all come back to every other day and continue. Initially the citystates will be quite small. I'm tagging people I think might be interested:

Start 450 bc. I am Athens. Me leader is not one man but the entire citizen body. Currently my most influential person is Demosthenes. We boast awesome philosophers who poison themselves rather than accept banishment and we boast a great navy.

    Sure. OP has been edited.

And by the way. I'm the Parisii. Our people are fishermen who live in the general area of modern day Paris and fish on the Seine river. They have a well trained but small army. We have a population of 65,000 and own just our main city and some surrounding towns. Our people are developing bigger boats that can go farther up the river and are considering expansion.

Well, the population of athens at this time was around 90,000.

And how will our populations grow? Will you roll the dice for each of us, or something?

I'd like to play as the Levantine Kingdom. It's around the modern city of Byblos, btw.

I would totally love to play but my phone doesn't have paint so if someone can edit the map for me then I will play but question, Do thy have to be historical because my knowledge is limited.

It does sounds quite interesting. I would like to be the fictive city-state Aarhus which is around the real Aarhus in Denmark. We are also fishermen and have a population of about 5.000, if it is okay.
    (Edited more stuff in)
We are a monarchy. And beside being fishermen we also are farmers. But mostly fishermen.

I'll be Rotterdam. Formed as a small conglomeration of fishing villages in and around the Maas and Rhine deltas. Considering the marshy and soggy terrain, the people are quite hardy, yet feel safe and don't see the need of a large military. There are some hunters to provide other sources of food and protection for the 1,500 people living at the river banks and near the North sea.

I'll be the great and glorious city-state of London, settled on the north side of the Thames. Isolated from most other peoples, but sometimes find small roving bands of raiders. It has a population of 3,500 able men, with another 5,000 of women and children. Most of the population are farmers, with a small amount of people being artisans. It has a small military of 500 men for protection against the raids.

I will play as the Phoenician city of Tyre, a prosperous Canaanite city-state on the coast of modern day Lebanon. We are a prosperous trading port with a population of roughly 5,000.

You can say how big it grows each time you go. But once in a while I might throw a natural disaster or plague or a drought/flood at you (I'll do it for myself too) and you will lose some population.
I'll edit the map for you. It doesn't have to be historical, not even your original starting nation needs to be. The only thing that has to be historical is the general weapons of the era, so all you need to know is those.

EDIT: OP has been updated and one day in real life is now a year in game, if it was a month we'd probably be here forever.

    City State:Naffaron
Politics: The Three Basque Tribes of Varduli, Caristii, and Autrigones Came together to found the state of Naffaron, The three Tribes each have their own Chieftain, The Varduli Elect The War Chief, The Caristii Elect The Peace Chief, and the Autrigones Elect The Executor Chief. The Peace Chief Functions as a governor-autocrat in times of peace, the war chief leads the armies of Naffaron, And the Executor, the executor holds no actual power until either the war or peace chief dies, or, in the event that one of these chiefs should try to wield absolute power, temporarily become dictator until the rogue chief has been killed, then he will Choose the successor for the position.
Policies: Naffaron will never mobilise her armies unless the state were to come under attack or the Executor should issue a declaration of war. The state is mainly agricultural, although Naffaron is a coastal city.
I feel obligated to point out that Naffaron is on the sea of Cantabria, the state controls land from modern day Bilbao all the way to the Spanish-French border, and south to Pamplona.

Ok them. I am located where I'm Athens is really located lol. We have a population of about 90,000 (thanks skydive for the numbers) we fight in a traditional phalanx. Our main warship is the trireme. We are one of Dthe most influential cities in our area and have authority over all the surrounding small towns.

3 days should be a year. This way people can be absent and not miss the the whole year.

    "Someone" is me!
Location? I've got Paris, so I would suggest you go somewhere in the south. Also, everyone edit your population based off of the 90,000 Athens historically had at the time. So you can have anywhere between 50 and 90 thousand (Athens was a huge city for its time).
All locations are as they are in real life. I got political maps of the countries to make sure I got pretty close locations.
Well, it doesn't matter if you miss a year because people can only colonize once a year. And thats going to be how it is the entire time. The reason for this is that this game will the entire time be in the classical age, because we won't hit the year 1 for 450 real life days. This game will be over long before then. I will also be adding around 10 NPC cities which I will control and expand. Any nation may conduct diplomacy with these cities (I'll pretty much authorize anything reasonable) and I'll be sure that I don't use them to my advantage. If players want to come in after the game starts, they will get control of one of these cities.

Tomorrow. I'll give one more day for people that want to join and I'll make a thread tomorrow for the start of it.

Remember your populations and stuff guys, this is a direct impact on your game. I also figured out a way for population to expand. You get 10,000 with each province and your population expands by 1% each day. Don't worry, I'll do the math for you. As you can tell I'm interested in a very serious and realistic game. I'm looking for a battle simulator so you guys can have fair battles, but if not then we'll just have to be creative ;)

I doubt all provinces would have equal amounts of population, though, especially not in 450BC.
