@Thefatkid All expansion that wont directly conflict with others will be fighting barbarians/pirates and peacefully colonizing areas. Neither barbarians nor pirates have walls and peaceful colonization is a completely different matter. However if one was to attack another player, whom would have walls, one would require siege equipment to do so. Siege equipment has no purpose other than to take walls. Thus, the only reason you would build siege equipment is to take walls, walls only belong to other players, thus you are preparing for war with other players as we speak. Not like it's a threat to me way up in the Ukraine though, I'd be worried if I was @slydessertfox or @ddbb089 though.
We are simply taking precautionary measure. We have Athens on the border, Macedon to the north, barbarians at the gate, no navy, and you think we intend on invading? Every action I have taken was to the defense of Sparta. We need the island of Crete before another power takes control and has a successful invasion point. We formed the Peloponnesian league to make sure the Athenians don't think try an invasion, the walls were created because we didn't have any! Our alliance with Carthage was a hope of there naval abilities would counteract the Athenians. Name one thing I did that wasn't to defend ourselves.
Given how defensive you are, I think it's infinitely more likely you're preparing to attack Athens. The Cartheginian navy will certainly be able to duel favorably against the Athenian navy (that's why you gave them the port) and with siege equipment, war elephants, and some of the finest trained soldiers in the world you should be able to beat the Athenians on the land. It's a giant game of chess and Athens is in check. Perhaps checkmate if they don't do something fast. Edit: Not like I really care though. You guys are like a million miles away.
Poznan would like to announce that is watching the Greece situation carefully, it will also continue the completion of the roads. Sweden would like to announce it is going to continue its track northwards.
Sparta begins mixing naval training with there current Spartan training. All current Spartan soldiers must redo training to match what is now required and expected.
@General Mosh Supreme Leader Supreme sends off the colonization party north, pressing even further into the frontier. London's other ranking general, General Victus, is sent with 500 swordsmen and 100 cavalrymen to guard them, and a batch of 50 workers are also sent to construct roads further north.
@General Mosh I institute a law that men who work at lumber camps or docks will be paid more for their services. Also, I order more docks to be built. This will cause us to be able to build ships faster and simultaneously. At the docks that already are complete, I order for 5 triremes. I also invest into researching Naval Advancements (i.e. Weaponry, Tactics, and ways to build ships faster) and find the most renowned Naval Scientist in Sardinia.
London's exploration ship finally reaches a new place, and while cartographers are busy mapping the coast, they meet another fishing vessel. @UnitRico
Carthage has begun developing armour for the elephants. Carthage has begun attaching blades at the ends of the elephant tusks.
Seeing the ships land on their shores, the people from Rotterdam initially believed them to be their Frisian trading partners. After a small conversation, though, the people discovered these men came from another island off the coast. Despite the language barrier, talks about trading have started. @Shisno. Also, the scouts found more empty farmland to the east. However, to the south-east, a much more hilly area was found, where the people might be able to find some harder metals. Settlers were sent to this land, which they called "Limburg".
The captain of the 50 man exploration vessel exited the boat and talked with representative of Rotterdam. "I come from a city-state across the body of water, called London. With the power vested in me by our Supreme Leader, Vermin Supreme, I offer an alliance between our two cities. We can bring a representative of your government back to London for negotiations, or somewhere else. What is the government of Rotterdam's feeling on this?"
Excellent. Now we offer to take a delegation back to London to negotiate this treaty. If you do not mind we also wish to establish an embassy.
Macedon celebrates the victory in Crete.A marble statue is built in the capital for the sacrifice of the fallen Macedonians in the battle. With the weapons Sparta has given us we can equip a new 2000 men army, but first we need to train them. A diplomat is sent out to the north to Poznan/polish league and the newly founded city of Budapest and to the east to Tyre. King Peseus is worried to hear the Spartan presence in Athens. We ask the Spartans to be careful with their asctions with their neighbours. If Athens declares war becouse of this Sparta will have a major war on their hands with Athens.
Tyre will begin construction on new war galleys, to secure Tyre's trade routes throughout the Mediterranean and protect against any future naval threats.
