Do you mean "Islamic" as in the actual religion or as in the the cover name for a terorrist group beacuse not all Musslims and Islamic people want to "purge the west".

Are we using your definition of evil as moral hypocrisy @Kali ?

    In my head:
A Definition of Evil: "To actively work against the Social Contract; knowing fully it's purpose and intent and refusing the option of exclusion. "
A Definition of Bad: "To violate the Social Contract; having refused the option of exclusion."

The main difference I think lies in intent: a bad person may violate the Contract unintentionally; for instance through crimes of passion or desperation while an evil person would necessitate premeditation and a knowledge of the purpose of the Contract.

To be Evil would likely incur being Bad, however it is not necessarily so. Certainly, being bad would not mean you are evil.

(However, I realise that this doesn't conform to my casual usage of "bad"; which I tend to use to simply mean unkind, unthoughtful etcetera.New words, or a re-organisation may be required.)

As to the OP - Being Evil is "wrong" because you endanger humanity, as well as being bad. Being bad is "wrong" because it is tantamount to Unjustified Enrichment and a violation of another's Privileges.

I wish Kali would say his own views on this matter, would be most enlightening.

Well I think we have base morality from human solidarity this means that humans saw the evolutionary advantages of helping each other and being decent in a "if I help you out then you should help me" sort of way. I think this also is true of evil/bad things, but to me evil/bad just means you are doing something that can hurt the species.

For instance if a women gets kicked in her uterus I think everyone here(that is not a sociopath) would be a little upset by it. In my opinion this is because in our subconcious we realize that someone getting shot or getting beaten is not productive to us homosapiens therefore we use the word bad or evil as a negation to our natural human solidarity.

So technically from a materialist point of view there is nothing wrong with being bad/evil, but thankfully being that we are deformed monkeys bad/evil is not a good thing. Sam Harris talks about this alot he even believes that there could be couciousness outside the brain so I would look to him for this question.
