Uh Uh Uh I am willing to participate in this war if someone tells me what we are fighting for in a personal message. I only want 1 person to tell me who is fighting, why we are fighting, and I will choose which side to join.

Okay here what the troops are.
10,000 Spartans hold line as 20,000 Poznan mercs and 10,000 other Spartans come down to attack flank. The 10,000 Spartans go to the nearest mountain pass and go Phalanx. We aim to defend all of them so nobody is flanked.

There are more then 17,000 Spartans at Athens. Don't forget the 20,000 romans, 1,000 roman cav, and 9,000 Carthaginians

The 10,000 Spartans and 20,000 Romans attack Scythian men to get to the flank. We Greeks know our country well and move 1,000 Spartans and 15,000 of the mercs to move around the Scythians and attack flank anyways

    DID I GET THAT RIGHT?

OOC: I love how it is the first war of Spartan aggression like we are going to do another one. My only goal is to unite Greece up to Macedonian border and make Sparta an ancient version of Constantinople.

I know I'm not supposed to post here but there's a current battle we forgot:

In the oceans off the coast of Athens. I would think that Athens is attacking Carthage from the West and Tyre is attacking Carthage from the South.

    Tyre + Athens vs. Carthage

    Tyre:

    40 Warships

    Athens:

    ~50 Triremes

    ---

    Total - 90 warships

    Carthage:

    60 Triremes

    ---

    Total - 60 warships

The Spartans knew that the AA were coming. They could not miss the thunderous sound of approaching hoofs, nor the smell.
The Spartans quickly withdrew from the beaten paths to the safety of the reletive safety of the rocky slopes around them. The Spartan forces split into 10 phalanx formations of 1,000 men each. Because there was no one area large enough for all of them, some of the formations were seperated by mountain passes. The Spartans stood at chokepoints to help funnel the enemies into killing zones. What the Spartans didn't count on was the AA horse archers. As the AA troops closed, arrows began to pour down onto the Spartan forces. The first 2 phalanx formations were caught off guard and as they raised their shields to block the arrows, melee horsemen swept them away. The third formation was more cautious, shielding the men in front from arrows so that they could maintain the chokepoint. Gathered with the 4th and 5th formations, the 3rd formation guarded a mountain pass. This strategic choke proved its worth as the full force of the slave warriors of the AA charged the gap, being slaughtered in the narrow pass. Unfortunately, the slave warriors did not anticipate how closely heavy AA cavalry and melee horsemen would follow. The pitched battle that took place cost the lives of much of the 4th formation, the 3rd and 5th destroyed completely. But the cost to the AA was high, with the entirety of the lesser-trained and experienced slave warriors badly maimed with only 2,000 left and over 1,000 Heavy and melee cavalry destroyed.
The Poznan phalanx formations found themselves trapped, but fought to the bitter end, taking many of the enemy with them.
The five remaining Spartan formations took position on and near the beaten path that they had been following. Seeing the slaughter of their phalanx counterparts, the Poznan horses pranced nervously, in spite of their riders' steady hand. Finally able to see their foes, the skilled Poznan horse archers opened fire, striking their lightly armored Scythian counterparts. Unable to match their foes at a distance, the Spartans could only watch as the AA forces regrouped for the charge. Arrows from the Scythian horse archers rained down upon the Spartans, though, thanks to the tactics that the depleted 4th formation brought to them, the losses were less than 400. The AA cavalry, unused to the rocky terrain of the Greek mountain landscape, prepared to charge directly into the Spartan lines, as they could not effectively flank them.
As arrows continued to pour down, the remaining slave warriors were forced to charge, their human sacrifices dampening the Spartan lines and softening them for the full charge of the heavy and melee cavalry. The result of the costly forward charge was clear in the aftermath, though the AA won the day. The badly maimed Poznan horse archers fled the field when the Spartan lines showed clear signs of failing.

The Spartan forces see the Athenian soldiers sally from the city and quickly begin to form phalanx formations on the high ground, where their camp is located. The Athenian forces line up with phalanx formations in the front, followed by swordsmen, cavalry, and archers in the back. The Spartans hold their position on the high ground atop a hill crest, even as their foes send all their cavalry to surround the outnumbered Spartans and prevent their escape. The remaining Athenian forces advance towards to the Spartan formations at a slow pace, but quickly gathering speed. As the Athenian line closes with the Spartans, their archers stop and begin to fire arrows up to the Spartan position. Many fall short, the higher ground serving to help nullify the AA range superiority, though 500 Spartans die. The AA commanders, eagar to have their victory at long last, order the swordsmen to charge the Spartan ranks shortly before the phalanx formations meet with the foe. Fortunately for the swordsmen, AA phalanx formations clashed with the Spartans shortly after the bloody charge that cost nearly 2,500 AA swordsmen. Spartan commanders, still aware of the AA cavalry closing from behind, have 3 phalanx formations of 1000 men each moved to cover their flanks. The AA soldiers continue to surge forward as the battle rages on. Determined to force back the AA soldiers, the Spartan commander orders the war elephants forward. The result is disastor for both sides. The war elephants charge forward into AA lines, shattering them and gaining the beleugured Spartans a moment of respite, but the charge also shatterd Spartan formations as well. Suddenly, the handlers lose control of the beasts and they stampede in all directions, trampling enemies and allies alike. Chaos erupts as troops stuggle to escape the rampaging elephants and win the battle as well.
Meanwhile, the AA cavalry meet the Spartans on the field behind the main engagement. The Spartans had created phalanx formations that form a semi-circle like band to keep out the cavalry. Even horse archer arrows fail to break the formation, though many Spartans die. Suddenly, a rouge war elephant barrels into the left side of the Spartan formation. Though the beast is quickly brought down, AA arrow fire kill many Spartans. Before the Spartans could regroup, AA cavalry charge the formation, suffering horrible losses, but finally killing enough of the Spartans to slip past them and crash into the rear of the forward Spartan force. With their flanks broken and their formations in disarray, the battle quickly loses focus for the Spartans. The AA quickly force the Spartans back to the hill top, then back to the crest, and finally elminating them entirely.

The Athenian Alliance (AA) troops sweep across the low fields towards the slightly elevated Spartans, screaming warcries. The Spartans meet them on the field of battle, quickly moving into Phalanx formations of 1,000 men each, with the boxes facing towards their charging foes. But the Spartan commander quickly realizes the flanking manuver of their enemy and orders his men to rush into new positions. New phalanx formations are made, forming a large, box with men in the center and pikes pointed outwards to protect all angles. But the command came too late for the Spartan soldiers at the very front of the original formations. As their allies fell back into the new formation, 1,000 Spartans sacrificed themselves, blunting the front of the enemy assault. Almost 150 AA died before the phalanx was hit from all sides. Unable to maintain the forward-facing formation, the Spartan soldiers broke ranks, drawing their swords and turning to face their foes. But the iron dicsiple of the Spartans and the hesitation of their phalanx commander to deviate from standard Spartan warfare cost the lives of almost 200 Spartans before the order came. The remaining 800 Spartans found themselves cut off, surrounded by a sea of enemies who were pressing in on both sides. They fought bravely, slaying over 1,700 AA troops before succumbing to the superior numbers of the AA.

Meanwhile, the remaining 9,000 Spartans found that they had no oppertunity to mourn the loss of their comrades. Tendrils of AA troops, unable to reach the isolated band of Spartans though the press of their comrades and filled with bloodlust, charged the newly formed Spartan phalanx. Over 500 were slaughtered without a single Spartan casualty. There was no reprieve for the Spartans. Arrows, raining down from the horns of the AA formation, forced the Spartan soldiers to take cover under their shields. Some 200 Spartans, too slow to react, were cut down by the deadly rain. The AA troops, having finished off the isolated band of Spartans, began to form phalanx formations to oppose the Spartans as other AA troops surged around the Spartans, searching for a weakness in the formation. AA cavalry quickly cut off the Spartan escape and archers continued to rain down arrows from afar. AA swordsmen began to circle the Spartans, as vultures do a dying animal. The AA phalanx formations began to move towards the foremost Spartan lines. Just as the formations met and the screams of men filled the air, the AA swordsmen surged forward from all sides, believeing that the Spartans in other parts of the massive formation distracted by the forward attack. The deaths on both sides were staggaring. 1,500 Spartans perished in the bloodly melee and from AA arrows, but the phalanx held strong and the AA troops were pushed back, losing 2,750 troops. The remaining 7,300 Spartans reformed their phalanx as AA commanders ordered AA hoplites into phalanx formations that surrounded the Spartans from three sides, the fourth covered by AA cavalry. By this time AA troops swarmed the countryside where the two armies fought, covering the hills and making the ground shake as they rushed into positions. Arrows continue to rain down from AA archers, cutting down 300 more Spartan soldiers and reducing their number to 7,000 as over 45,000 AA soldiers continue to surround them. Suddenly, as the final AA soldiers reach their positions, the arrows stop.

AA soldiers move forward as one, the palanx formations making contact first, followed by the swordsmen. The Spartans valiently hold their ground, the ever-shrinking formation holding against pressure that would have long shattered lesser phalanx formations. But it could not hold out forever and eventually the command to switch to closer-quarter weapons came. Seeing their chance, AA cavalry charge into the fray, penetrating deep into the phalanx formation and shattering it. What followed was a long and costly battle as Spartan and AA troops like were cut down. There was no mercy.

The AA emerged victorious, but at heavy cost.

I don't know why in the world I am making more trouble for myself but:
NOTE: If you and your allies are not satisfied with the results, form a good argument and PM me ONCE. I will have the other alliance PM me their thoughts. If I recieve MORE THAN ONE PM about any one battle, I will only consider the side that sent me ONE PM. If both sides are sending me more than one or just being unreasonable, NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE.

Looking at the battle info, the outcomes were pretty much obvious.
It was a question of the casulties for the AA that were in question.
Simply put: Sparta and its allies were spread too thin. They were vastly outnumbered everywhere.

If you guys wanted specific actions and a better story time, you probably should have done what Kara did and give me specific unit compositions - though I didn't know that he was trying to send his cavalry south until after I wrote and posted everything.

    Like a champ.
