Dalmatia's leader is pleased with his new elephant. He has taken to riding it through the countryside around his capital, chasing farmers and squirting water is the faces of his bodyguards.

Sparta asks for 25,000 mercenaries from Dalmatia. We ask for 25,000 mercenairies from Tyre. @UtterlyImpeccable @Epiccheesegrater. Sparta also decreases military pay for our troops by 10%, and raise taxes by 10%. If you 2 want to know what I will use them for, do so in convo, I can promise you it is for trading purposes.

EDIT: I am sorry that was unreadable, fixed.

Dalmatia only has about 2,000 soldiers. Where the fuck would we get 25,000 men from?

I can, however, loan you the 7,000 mercenaries I got from Danzig.

And I must insist you declare what you will use them for in this thread, RP's like this don't work if people keep secrets.

25,000 is a lot of mercernaries. Tyre will not send any of it's armed forces, though we will send that amount of trained slave-soldiers, armed by Tyre.

I am just putting it out there. However, thank you. You do also relize that each province is 10,000. You can arm 1/2 you populace.

    How much?

100,000 moneys. Or, if that is unrealistic, 50,000 moneys. If that is unrealistic, 25,000 moneys.

The Empire will block any attempts for Sparta to have more then 30,000 mercenaries at any one time.

I know that, but I have no wish to harm my production levels.
Besides which, I doubt untrained farmers would make good mercenaries.

Tyre has raised and trained 20,000 more men for it's standing army, which stands at 40,000. Tyre's city guard stands at 10,000 men, and there are currently 75 ships in our navy. I hope this is reasonable.

    Well, perhaps.
But I do not think I'd be any safer if I had a huge army, it simply makes me a target.

Where did you get that logic? lol All it means is that you can defend yourself, why would anyone want to send there army off to someone with a big army as well? It makes more sense to invade weak targets, and then grow.

    Only if you're a prick.
Well, look. You built a big army, now you're weak and humiliated. I've never had a big army, yet I've never been invaded, and am one of the foremost trading powers.

That is because I invaded. Do you think I would be this weak if I never invaded anyone? Well i don't think anyone will invade you. I just don't know what you would do with 7,000 guys. Some of use have hundreds of thousands.
