Shh. Don't say anything about his precious Ad Hominen, you might make him angry. Thats one of the three things he actually cares about. That, himself, and grammar.

I have to admit I am still shocked at how Kali is a theist, but I'm sure the reason for not become an atheist is more or less an association thing.

Imagine Nathan Bedford Forrest (first leader of the KKK) walking out of his grave and saying, i don't want to be associated with Mel Gibson because i think hes too racist.

I know what you're saying, but that simply isn't my role to play.

There's a Goddamned question right there. Answering it is simply not going to happen, though.

In the first place, the nature of my response would inherently compromise that which it describes. There's also the sheer mechanical limitation of my current browser that would prevent me from giving an adequate response even if I wasn't concerned about the implications of that response.

Who cares about the implications, you should just go for broke and tell everyone your role. Besides must be one hell of a role if your browser can not handle it.

You don't think... You don't think he's using Internet Explorer do you? I would lose all respect for him if that were true.

Just read from another post he was on his phone.

But even still I would hope he would have the sense to use a more respectful browser like Firefox.

@Kali You keep saying "abrahamic faiths" but what is your opinion on other faiths debating theology? Not that there are any here.

Do we have anyone from faiths that are not "abrahamic"? I thought we had like one Hindu or Buddhist or something.

Theology is a pretty Abrahamic discipline. Obviously they don't have a monopoly on it, but of the seven major faiths, only Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are particularly concerned with the nature of their deity, and of those only Christianity has a seriously developed theology.

Buddhism is wholly unconcerned with the nature of traditional deities because traditional deities exist within samsara and might as well be "sufficiently advanced spirits." Hinduism isn't concerned with the nature of deities, but their character and ability. Taoism, even the weird religious kind, doesn't delve deeply into the concept of god in the first place. Confucianism is sort of in the same boat, but is even less interested. Shinto is pretty much in the same situation as Hinduism, though to be honest I've never even heard of a Shinto theologian, much less a Shinto theology. Pagans are too diverse a group to talk about, but for the same reason are incapable of developing a theology. Spiritualists, Unitarians, deists, and the like forfeit the ground necessary to actually create a theology, though are probably the best suited to defend one.

As a deist myself, I can attest to the vapidity of the entire notion of 'the divine', let alone god, but I am absolutely sure my beliefs can be defended without fail. It is, as I said, probably well beyond us deists to develop a theology, but in defense of one we have a supreme advantage.
