Not to be a hater and listen, In today's world, it is hard to find a job right? Well, if you study Sociology, Psychology, or some Philosophy course in college, you won't make any money to be realistic. What do you think a realistic good jobs are out there? My advice go for being an engineer, lawyer, pharmacist , or even business. Hey its a tough world out here, so no one is going to hold your hand. Study! Work Hard! Try to balance your happiness of your job with the income you make okay?
Realistic jobs? Huh this is something I hate. I love how when we are little our parents are like "Be whatever you want!" and we are like "REALLY!" Now older they tell us to go for something realistic. Even if our chances of getting that job is 99%, they will still tell us to get a realistic job. The only reason why people won't get the job they WANT is because they have no support. Go be whatever you want, fuck realistic.
The idea is to be both. I also think nobody can give you good advice on this. Most people are below 30.
My advice is don't study some courses that don't make you some real money. You can do it in your free time, but not as your profession.
You are so full of age, and wisdom! see my point? nobody on this thread can offer much advice. they haven't had years invested into a career.
My job will be the richest hobo on the street, I will have a TV you crank, a box with no holes! Everything man!
It's really cute that you think that (http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/info-Degrees_that_Pay_you_Back-sort.html). Even if it was true you're just saying that you shouldn't do what you like, just what makes you rich. A shitty life plan if I ever heard one.
Here's the thing though, once you start thinking about having a family you have to alter your priorities a little. If supporting my family means I'm not making 80k a year doing something that is so-so versus making 30k a year doing something I love, then damn right I'm going to take the higher paying job. Realistically, you're not going to make a comfortable living in sociology or philosophy. Sociology has more wiggle room, but you're not going to be able to provide a family of 4 or more with the kind of life you want to. I'm not saying to abandon everything you love and only go to business school, but theres more to the equation then your own self interest.
