So two days ago, a Dutch hacker connected with Anonymous Hyperion, the Dutch Anonymous organisation, has leaked information from the network of the Norwegian shipping company called Odfjell, which has been known to store massive amounts of benzene and other dangerous substances. These are the ridiculous conditions in which they store them:

Lemme threat this as a superthread for Anonymous. We'll keep you updated.

Anonymous isn't really an organization, but rather a loose collection of hackers across the world that cooperate to oppose various things, usually to do with governments, particularly in the West and in the US.

They usually [from what I have heard] put down or temporarily decomission the websites of groups/organizations/governments in protest of something that had been done.

They got Bank of America for the monthly fees, parts of the US government for SOPA, etc.

Just because someone puts out a video that they will attack 'X' at 'Y' time, doesn't mean that it will happen on a wide scale. For the most part, the hackers appear to be seperate and make seperate decisions. So while one may choose to hack the target, another may not.

Anonymous' lack of a central structure is in some ways more powerful than their anonymity. By not having ties to others and being scattered so far, taking them down would be immensely difficult.

My thing is, I get that your protesting, and most non violent protests are made to inconvenience people as a means to get attention, but do you have to take it that far?

To me anonymous is a both good and bad, its good in the fact that yes it hacks into websites or shuts down websites that are bad (like when they hacked and manged to get arrested a bunch of CP viewers and uploaders) however other times there just annoying and there actions have very bad results (see the mexico drug cartel hacking)

Anonymous is everyone's favorite terrorist organization. I love watching there current fight with the President of the UFC. The only argument that is odd in that fight is Anonymous getting mad over being called terrorists. I'm not saying that being a terrorist is bad, but they hack Government Websites to install a fear in people that they have the power to undo corruption=Terrorists.

Personally, when it comes to taking down websites, I'm neutral. The protests are good, but they shouldn't go too far. Not saying they do, but it's on the line. However, hacking websites of companies to gather proof of the bad situation is a good thing IMO.

Wut? No, they don't. This is their way of protesting. If the government takes down websites, they do too. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

Okay, I shouldn't have said people, but they do do that to various Government officials, abusive policemen. and most who speak out against them.

Take the President of the UFC for example. All he did was insult them. He made no personal threats to provoke them. Yet they decided to release tons of info. on him(phone number, family information, etc).

But on the other hand: Anonymous isn't an organisation. One action by individual people speaking out of Anonymous' name doesn't make the group all bad.

i agree. I never said they were all bad or bad in general. The higher up respected members need to separate themselves from the guys just looking for trouble thought.

No, I disagree. New people should be able to join, but they just need some central forums or website on which they can organize themselves.

I'm okay with them if they use their hacking superpowers to just gather info on things like that Odfjell pictures but when they bring down websites of the american government in response of the Megaupload shutdown it's not what you wanna do in response.
