CoD 1 was good, but no more than good. The rest is just more of the same.

Because when Pandora open the box of all evils, one good thing came out of it; Hope. And that hope drives us on through all evils.

Aren't games supposed to be entertaining in some sort of way?

Yea, that's why people play them. That's the reason why I play CoD.

I find it to be entertaining for a while, then it is just addictive, and you rage at stupid crap that happens.

Cod 1 was cool and Cod4 has decent. MW2 is where I dumped series. WaW I tried only because it was WW2, but turned out to suck the most and I tried out MW3 as my room mate had it, so why not. I puked my balls out after that one.

    @TheKoreanPoet

I wonder how anyone can be entertained by Cods

Cod4 was pretty good, but all the servers are hacked now. I played one MW3 match with a friend and destroyed. Way to easy.

Biggest flaw with cod4 was respawn. It was outright horrible. On occasion I could see enemies spawn right infront of me. They naturally had no chance. Or once I spawned, tried to take a first step but was gunned down. Also match making is fucking horrible, no matter what game it is.

MW2s multiplayer was outright broken peace of shit. I really have hard time believing that anyone can actually like it.

Cod 1-2 were sweet, obviously single player based games though.

Cod3 I didn't really get into because it was Cod 1-2, only with a less engrossing story

Cod4 was awesome, minus the spawn system, but it had some flaws. While it did bring out the idea of customization and the leveling system, it's pretty limited compared to modern games. Host migration is annoying as hell. Killstreaks aren't customizable, and not that fun, not to mention the whole helicopter glitch, and the general fact that without a lock on rocket launcher they're hard as hell to take out. Cod4 was more of a hybird between a sp and mp game, but it really revolutionized console fps. Just look at the sales figures for all games before and after cod4 came out. Even bf2 sales pale in comparison to it's much shittier sequels.

MW2 was good for about 6-7 months (right around the 2nd map pack) before people began using exploits and IW didn't patch them. Still hardcore game types and non objective game types played okay, and if you hop on now most of the annoying stuff just isn't done anymore. All of the lame people who glitch games to make their epeen grow are playing mw3. Mw2 did a lot of good things and took the customization and interface to what I believe to be the penultimate level. Mw2 also added HOST MIGRATION, which is huge when you think about it. In the older games if the host was getting stomped on he could just quit the game and the entire thing wouldn't count.

Waw sucked but mostly because people became accustomed to weapons that were easy to use, and Treyarc more or less abandoned the game after it was made so it got glitched to all hell.

Mw3 is trying, they came out with new game modes, a more involved weapons system, non lethal killstreak set ups, the specialist package, and generally a bunch of points moves to try and alleviate kd whoring.

One of the things you guys don't seem to be getting is COD is designed to be a casual game. People are supposed to be able to pick it up and play without going 0-20 every game for a month.

I'd also like to know what you guys think is so innovative about other games? Every other sequel in gaming is basically the same as the game before it minus a few tweaks. Was Fall out New Vegas that different from Fallout3? Is bf3 that different then BC2?

I like battlefield 3 more simply because of the battles in a bigger scale than CoD, plus the rush game mode is very addicting, you also need to have a good team, not only a good player to win, that means good strategy as well, not running trigger happy on the map.

If you play another, random game, say Age of Empires, you feel that it is Age of Empires 1. When you start playing Age of Empires 2, you see the difference. You feel it. The controls are different, and so is the actual gameplay. Of course, it still is Age of Empires, but it's a different game. I don't get that feeling when playing Call of Duty. Hell, it's been seven games and they still haven't really put in anything new!

The difference between aoe and aoe2 was gates and hot keys, and marginally better unit pathing nothing else really changed. Difference between bw and sc2 was an easier integration of hotkeys and having more units available for grouping. I mean hell the controls were revamped between cod2 and cod4 (maybe even between cod3 and 4, but as mentioned I didn't play). The ability to tweak your sensitivity (cod4) change your buton layout (cod4, made easier in bo and mw3) had a huge impact on the game. The fundamentals of a game don't really change, the tech just catches up and advances incrimentally.

COD4 did have a few other flaws, but very minor compared to those two.

I cant say anything good about MW2

FNV did some minor innovations, but F3 is still far better game. FNV should really be called Fallout 3 New Vegas. Sheer quantity of content is only thing keeping that game above the water.
