I just ask, is it possible to, say, use a PS2 disc in conjunction with a playstation 2 emulator? I ask because we have a f*ck ton of old ps2 games and I don't know (and am too lazy to research) if a PS3 is backwards compatible.

    Yes PS3's are backwards compatible.

A PS3 is backwards compatible to my knowledge. If you want to use a PS2 emulator you have to download the ROMs and use one of these emulators.

No, most PS3's aren't backwards compatible. Only the earliest versions had that feature (the 20gb and 60gb launch models). Also some 80gbs, but only in the USA I believe. All models after that, including all of the slim versions don't have backwards compatibility.

Leonard is right about the backwards compatability.

The main PS2-PC emulator doesn't require discs, but is fiddly to set up and requires a half decent system. Emulation quality is pretty good, but buggy occasionally with certain games.
