    Ahhh but just knowing who he is is lame. We must know why they're here and why they're famous. He's famous for being the first to reach India BTW.

    As well as being the first European to round the cape of good hope, and forging the Portuguese empire by claiming much of Africa and India in Portugal's name.

    Actually, the Portuguese only got Angola and Mutapa in Africa, not that much, but they reached Japan first, got Macau as a free-trade city, Mallaca as well and Goa.

    They only started colonizing it by the 1530's, they didn't do much after it.

    And you mentioned only Africa and Asia, not America.
