I asked around the forum if anyone was interested in italian politics ,nobody answered me so i waited a bit before making this thread , anyway long story short after we almost went bankrupt because of berlusconi 's government, mr.Monti (a puppet from europe) became prime minister so now people is starving to death because of the new taxes and budget cuts meanwhile to keep our politicians content, Monti is not going to touch Italy's politicians' generous pay, pension and privileges. Our only hope is the five stars movement (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/19/w...omedian-alters-italys-political-map.html?_r=1) Italy's independent and anti-corruption political movement.

I've heard that much of Italy's government is corrupt, and its not the best government to live under right now.

The five stars movement is interesting though, and their policies seem very good. I like it, mostly. The one thing I don't like is that the leader of the movement, Beppe Grillo, is open to leaving the Euro and wants politicians to stand trial. Is it really that bad there that the politicians deserve trial?

yea i think we should go back to the Lira beacause even a restructuring of the debt will not restore growth and competitiveness to Italy.
We have one of the most corrupted political class in europe(we re 69th in the world) ,berlusconi even made laws to save his butt from jail, yea its really bad here its not berlusconi alone all of our politicans are like that they seems to hate eachother but its just a farse they get together to attack people like Grillo(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beppe_Grillo), Luttazzi(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniele_Luttazzi) ,Travaglio(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marco_Travaglio) they re like the hydra...... many heads and all of them are evil.

There was a very interesting programme on the BBC last week about the Euro, basically saying how it has been fatally flawed from the outset.
Also some fairly scary stuff about how, in November of last year, many Eurozone banks were on the verge of collapse, and their debts were underwritten by the EU, and that money is now also being used to loan to governments and to pay of national debt.
Even if my last paragraph didn't totally make sense, basically the Eurozone is in a mess and cannot survive. People have been saying that since before it was formed, European countries are just too different.

ohohoh thre is a rumor that people is spreading about us and greece and i believe this rumor to be true "Italy like Greece "Cheated" to Join Euro" they say we have faked our finacial data to join euro because our national dept was to big to allow us to join so we change it to a more reasonable number.

Yes, this programme said that was the case. In fact, they said even Germany only just would have made it through the national debt regulations for joining, so almost all the countries that joined did not fulfill the restrictions, but as long as they 'promised' to reduce debt levels they were allowed in.
Obviously they never did reduce debt, as for countries like Greece being in the Euro gave them access to very cheap debt, so they built up more and more.
