Well now if there was any doubt that Al Qaeda had lots of power in the rebel movements the doubt is gone now, Abdelhakim Belhadj, a known Al Qaeda member and fighter, veteran of the Soviet-Afghan war and Islamic Extremist is the defacto commander of the Rebel Army in Tripoli.

Same thing the rebels are fighting for freedom, besides quadafi or whatever his name is has been known to supply them with weapons, why would they seek to stop and overthrow a good thing? What could an underground organazation thats been almost utterly defeated have to gain? Not like they could keep training operations out of eyes of NATO etc, seeings as NATO appears to be in for long haul...

news just in, the freedom fighters in Tripoli have just captured the home of Gaddafis daughter. there are also gains in the southern part of the city where the last of Gaddafi fighters are hiding

Gaddafi has NEVER given Al Qaeda weapons, Gaddafi supplies people like the IRA and the Maoist Rebel Movement in India.
