It is wrong to speak ill of the dead.

There are exceptions. Would you never speak ill of someone like Hitler? Or a dead serial killer or rapist or something like that? Not saying this guy is any of these things or like Hitler, I do not know anything about him. Just saying.

I have to disagree for some cases. There are some people who deserve no respect even in death.

No one is pure evil, and no one in their right mind wants to be. If someone is insane, then it's not right to blame them for their actions. If they are simply perceived as being terrible human beings, then they shouldn't be idolized, but we should never praise their deaths. Everyone is born into the world tabula rasa, and most people do what they think is right. Praising someone's death for not betraying their own moral code is just not logical.

Tell me if someone raped, tortured and murdered many people while being fully aware that their actions were wrong, how would they be worthy of any respect in death? How would it not be right to blame them? "Praising someone's death for not betraying their own moral code is just not logical." So what about someone like Hitler? What about his "moral code"?

To take glee or happiness in someone elses death is disgusting and inhumane. Is this the moral code you condone? Of course you have the right to be happy at the death of someone who caused you or your family rage or pain, but in this case, there is no conceivable way that the poster knew this man. Don't expect the forum to not comment that yes, the poster gleeful about the death of a man he knows next to nothing about, is indeed, a twat. Sure, you might be happy... but it requires a certain detachment from your own humanity, and a detachment from the victim to enjoy their downfall. How amoral is that?

I am not talking about anyone else and my question still stands. How would a person like I mentioned in my last post deserve respect even in death from anyone? I am not happy that this man died, I do not know anything about him. But there are some people who deserve no respect. You don't have to be jumping with joy that they're dead, but they deserve no respect or to have people not speak ill of them after death.

It is very sad that those kids died though, but in the grand scheme of things, I think they got Gadafi because the building looked totaly wreked. I think more children in Misrata will be saved at the expense of those three. War is always ugly and this is proof of this, even though it would do good in the long run with a monster whiped from the face of the earth.
