I was unable to sucessfully boot windows 7 due to a posible disk error. At Midnight last night, I began the Startup Repair utility and it began to scan my disk for errors after a system restore failed due to a posible dad sector on an essential file. When I woke up at 11 AM this morening, it went from scaning to repairing errors. It is now 4:33PM and it is still doing so. Is this normal? And what are my other options before sending it in for repairs. And yes, I have a lot of my data backed up and the losses would be at a minimum. FML

If you have warranty take it in anyway. If not wait till it finishes and if it still fails take it to the shop.

OMG i think i had a very similar problem with Windows 7 startup only a couple of hours ago, basicaly a blue error message came up randomly, then windows 7 would not start. I would try to start up normaly but all that would do is be stuck on the windows logo opening. I also tried to start up repair but all i would get was a black screen, maybe i should have waited longer but im not patient. I tried to start it in safe mode but it didn't work, then im thinking i need to send it in. The error message was something like "Windows 7 will not start because of a harddisk or software error" I finaly tried to boot the laptop , as a last resort, and had to wait atleast 20 mins( this is even before the system repair), so i finaly got to the system repair and waited another half and hour. Thankfully it seemed to repair it and it started normaly. I feel so lucky.... if i were you wait a little longer because these things take a long time.
