What are your views on this, I honestly think its a bad idea because I read a US court case a family sued an alabama public school because when everyone was praying he did not pray so both the kids and the parents teased him for being muslim. Also if we let the catholics ( or any other religon ) that freedom then we will have to let all other religons to do so. Then half the school day would be church!

Pretty much every School has a "moment of silence" period after the pledge. It exists for a fucking reason people, use it.

I am guessing you mean the pledge of allegience? To almost all my schools I have been to they just go right onto the announcements which no one really gives a fuck about.

If the students feel they're being denied the ability to pray on their on time then it would be completely justified for them to take the matter up with the school.

We have a silence. If it is a private school they can do whatever they want. A public school should not do it as a school policy. If a student wishes to pray of his or her own accord they are well within their rights to do so.

These are pretty much my views as well. I have nothing against students praying in school, I just don't think the school should lead them.

You can pray all you fucking want in School. You can start Bible Studies Clubs if you want. But they cannot be led by any teachers or anything of the sort. That's far from ridiculous.

    On your own time.

Participation in student organizations isn't mandatory for the entire student body. They are effectively voluntary.

They're public employees. They work on public time and are payed with taxpayer funds. Ergo: They are bound by US policy on separation of church and state.

We call it secularism here in the civilized world. SEC-U-LAR-ISM.

I personally believe if you have a tragic or absolutely great event happen prayer can be said. Students in the room how do not follow that religion do not have to pray with the students. If that student holds a different religion they can pray in there own way and if they are an Atheist they don't have to pray. This is my opinion, I know many people disagree. It sometimes depends on the situation. You of course wouldn't pray in a Atheist dominate school. I need to read up on the entire issue a little, but at the moment this is where I stand on the issue.

You can do whatever you damn well please, just don't try to force me to do join you, and don't disturb me in the two minute nap I take while you're doing it.

You can pray in school as long it's group of students doing it on their own accord and not forcing anyone. I know that in more urban schools the Muslims students usually do this.

Being a public school, the school can not sponsor or lead a prayer of any kind be it christian or what have you, however we have placed the moment of silence as a way for the individual to have his prayer while keeping it to himself, although most people don't know this.

If it is a private school, then well the private school has every right reason and requirement to go "Welcome to a catholic school time to pray the rosary"

I literally 100% agreed with you. I don't understand why your arguing with, especially when your basically repeating my arguments.

Although living in the bible belt south you would be shocked at the number of people who advocated forced praying in school.

There's nothing wrong with prayer in school.
