Usually anything that is multicoloured, and looks like it lights up are usually Christmas lights.

Both political parties suck in my opinion. The Republican party is mostly comprised of jingoistic politicians who serve more their own corporate sponsors rather than the people. The Democratic party is the lesser of two evils but yet they are pretty useless. I would say go vote for a third-party candidate but its a sad truth that in the American political system that usually voting for a third-party is waste of time and a vote.

I didn't say we need a massive military, I'm just in favor of having a strong one. Is that so strange? Also, I'm ok with making cuts, or not spending any more than we are, I just think we should have a strong military.

We already have a massive military. If you want a smaller government, you're probably going to have to give that up.

I agree, the United States has one of the largest and most technologically advanced armies in history of the world. A strong military is fine and all but people go overzealous and overspend. Also smaller government and big military don't go together.

Nigga I'm too busy to read a book. As a matter of fact, the last three books I read were school assignments.

The US already spends 60% of the world military budget on it's military. You literally have a large enough budget to conquer the world, two or three times over. No nation needs that kind of military budget. Hell, you could scrap it by two thirds and it would still be absurdly large.

Edit: It is completely impossible to invade the US. It would be a strategic, tactical, and logistical nightmare of unmatched proportions. Even if the USSR came back, and them, china, and NATO turned against you, they still wouldn't have much of a chance.

We don't even really need a military to defend the US. Everybody owns guns. Any military conflict in America, other than a M.A.D. attack, would come from within. With advanced technology, we don't even need a large army, we could just conduct wars Libya-style.

Ler made an extremely good point. That reminds me, I fucking hate games and movies where the premise is some country, usually Russia, invades the USA. That's about as idiotic as it can get. Oh and remember Homefront? Ya know, that game where North Korea invaded and took over the USA? I wish I didn't.

EDIT: Fallout is the only exception I will ever make with China invading Alaska because the Fallout games are great.

Maintenance of the current world order dictates that the US, as the global hegemon, have overwhelming military capability. While there is room for some downsizing, to preserve the geopolitical status quo, the United States will always have to possess a military that is several orders of magnitude more powerful than the second most powerful nation.

I don't see America ever changing.

A revolution could happen, but ultimately purges will happen.

We just need to wait for the older generation to go, and we will rise anew.

I agree, but I still disagree with continuing the War in Afghanistan. Personally I think a war with North Korea or Iran to be of more importance, and anticipation for such conflicts to be a priority.
