Yea lets discuss the current progress in space and is it ok to privatize space etc etc

Also you can ask questions, so (ELITE) people that have more knowledge on this subject can enlighten you. (not me)

I want to ask the first question: I heard that when we get fusion power (which we are close to get) space exploration is far more easier and faster?

Also we better at least stay on the mass effect timeline on getting our first moon base in year 2069

We will never be going anywhere with this kind of mentality. Private vs Public and Government vs Corporate have no place in the stars.
Neither political or financial interest are capable of the cooperative force required to conduct such an operation. Only pure unaltered human interest can do that.

Not really. Solar exploration sure, but space exploration in general would require some massive engineering feats.

im not going to bet on space exploration yet but i think that in a couple of decades we could explore the solar sistem in all its glory.

    1. Sorry I typed it wrong, I meant is it OK to company's to go to space and mine asteroids etc

    2. True, according to wikipedia nuclear fusion engine could get to 10% of light speed. Thus is would take 40 years to get to our nearest star..... But someday we will find a way to travel the cosmos with ease. (sucks that I wont be alive to see it)

Probably before then. In fact, we have the technology right now, just not the money or will to do it.

What our main resources for space exploration is going too right now is the search for other planets and life on other planets.

So your telling me that we have the means to have a life support station on the moon while having necessary crew facilities and the only reasons we don't do it is because of money?

Financial accounting is man's greatest self-imposed handicap. Maybe I'll do a thread on Technocracy and energy accounting later.

Russia and the U.S. are party to the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which defines the Moon and all outer space as the "province of all mankind"

    interesting and comforting

I wonder if businesses would pay people to colonize mars, like in the olden days with trade companies, good old corporations with private militaries and navies.

Yes, it would be easier to have a permanent lunar base instead of the ISS. Just, the ISS was created 20 years ago when we actually had the money to do this stuff. Notice, NASA shut down the shuttle program because it was too expensive...
