I did some research and found state socialism to accurately describe me and what I advocate, a mixture of socialism and capitalism. I want a form of government that mixes socialism and capitalism, as well as having a democracy.

    state socialism -
1.) a variant of socialism in which the power of the state is employed for the purpose of creating an egalitarian society by means of public control of major industries, banks, etc., coupled with economic planning and a social security system
2.) an economic system in which the government owns most means of production but some degree of private capitalism is allowed

For those that don't know here is the definition of egalitarian, which I have also advocated for and fits my personal ideology.

    egalitarian -
1.) of, relating to, or upholding the doctrine of the equality of mankind and the desirability of political, social, and economic equality
2.) an adherent of egalitarian principles

So what I want you guys to tell me is, do you believe State Socialism to be a legitimate form of socialism, or do you believe it to be a different economic system altogether?

Since the means of production are not fully controlled by the workers and has no goal of achieving communism it is not true socialism.

True socialism is not having everything fully controlled by the workers. That is syndicalism. True Socialism is getting completely rid of private property. However the definition of state socialism says its a variant of socialism.

No, Socialism is defined as workers(or common) ownership of the means of production. Syndicalism is a means of achieving socialism via industral unionism.

Did they? I did not know that.
Look up the definition yourself. Socialism only gets rid of private property.

It's not "true" Socialism but State Socialism is a type of Socialism. It's sort of like Market Socialism in the sense that the followers deem complete Communism as impossible but still believe in its values.

Wikipedia is not the best of sources. So I looked up the definition myself, which I could swear has changed in the past like 5 days. Because does anyone remember the posts of @You Rang? where he specifically said socialism exists only to get rid of capitalism and private property? Which Lenin Cat agreed with.

In any case, here is the definition.

    Socialism -
1.) A theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2.) Procedure or practice in accordance with this theory

According to this definition, then yes, state socialism is not "true socialism". But the definition of state socialism specifically says it is a "variant of socialism". Also, for those interested, here is the definition of Syndicalism:

    Syndicalism -
1.) A form or development of trade unionism, originating in France, that aims at the possession of the means of production and distribution, and ultimately at the control of society, by federated bodies of industrial workers, and that seeks to realize its purposes through general strikes, terrorism, sabotage, etc.
2.) An economic system in which workers own and manage industry.

Well, syndicalism sounds like it could never work to me, not to mention that it advocates terrorism and violence.

Yes, yes you did. I believe ComradeLer and Chelsea are Trotskyists. Although I may be totally wrong.

Its not socialism in its true form no. Does that mean its not a variant of socialism? No.
