I suspect that Lenin and Leninists would disagree.

'Cos they all seem to think that Lenin was great and Stalinism was some sort of evil corruption of Leninism, but we all know that anyway. I just couldn't resist contradicting you.

Well, I'm just going to start reading all the obscure communist works, especially any I can find on syndicalism. While syndicalism sounds crazy, it also sounds kind of interesting. So, does anyone have any good suggestions?

Also, @Viking Socrates yes there is a such thing as Stalinism, however its simply defined as the principles of communism associated with Joseph Stalin. Which is pretty much just a variant of Leninism, as you said. A more authoritarian variant, to be sure.

How was Lenin any less authoritarian than Stalin? I reccomend reading The black book of communism. It details the reign of Lenin and shows how Stalin was just an extension of Lenin. They both committed mass murder and induced artificial famines. They both embraced collectivization. They really weren't that different. Stalin was just in power longer.

Stalin was more authoritarian than Lenin because he somehow found an excuse to kill and starve millions even in times of seemingly complete stability. I believe Lenin would not have killed as many people as Stalin even if Lenin was in power just as long. Lenin was in power during a period of complete turmoil therefore there was at least a small reason behind his murdering.

Ignore him, anyone who uses the Black book of communism deserves none of your attention.

I would search my college notes and papers about political currents, but they are lost in a mountain of other stuff. From what I remember, Lenin mainly said that a "vanguard party" should organize the revolution.

The black book of communism is the biggest exaggeration ever. Pre-civil war Lenin was pretty libertarian.

    Also Ler is a Leninist.

Well, I don't really follow the exact variant of every communist on the forums. I believe I got the Trotskyist thing from that political test thread.
Anyways, I'd be interested to know what is your opinion on syndicalism Lenin Cat?
