Well obviously that's why, but that isn't the point.

If he expects to be taken seriously by people who aren't in high school, he shouldn't have that mindset.

He's turning 16 11 months from now bro.

Anyway, here's the conclusion I have came to. Most teenagers think they can save everyone in the world and think that everyone can work together, and everyone can live happily ever after and there will be no poverty, and everyone will be equal. Most adults realize that helping everybody is impossible, everybody won't work together and there will always be poverty no matter what you do, so it is pointless trying to help everybody. They think this way because they are more experienced and have seen the real world, unlike most teenagers.

Incidentally, the teenagers who think this are middle class white kids. Also it's mostly because they are selfish. You give most people far too much credit. We get into the real world and have to work for 40 minimum hours a week to survive. Most people willfully ignore poverty because it's an unpleasant thing to have to deal with when you're busy looking after yourself. Get a job that lasts a year or two and you'll understand. Pay for yourself, live alone without mommy and daddy and you'll find the last thing you want to hear is that you should spend time helping other people.

It's true, you can't help everybody and errase poverty, but that doesn't mean you have to say "Oh well, fuck it" and don't do anything about it.

That's what I 'm saying. If everyone takes an active role in politics and always voices their opinion on certain issues we will all at the very least effect the opinions of those around us. That is the least we can do to change our world and I think it makes all the difference.

That's a pretty unfair way of invalidating people.

    @The Shaw, @Kali, @LampRevolt,
You guys done bitching about socialism and teenagers now?
Incidentally, @slydessertfox, before you write me off as having "not seen the world", please remember I've lived in Oklahoma, Maryland, California, England, and New Jersey. This summer I'm most likely moving to one of the suburbs outside Washington D.C. I've been on vacation to Mexico, France, Spain, Germany, Scotland, and Ireland. I've been to nearly every state in the US, including Hawaii, although I've yet to see Alaska. Believe me, I've seen a lot of the world and I want to see more. I want to go to Africa, Russia, China, Japan, and South America. I want to go and see the pacific island chains. Please don't tell me I have not seen the world. I almost guarantee I've flown and traveled a hell of a lot more than many adults or college students.
At 15, I should of course know what I'd like my job to be. I want to be a field virologist for the CDC. So, when I'm alone away from my parents, it will be my job to help people. I have always wanted to help people, and I find it disgusting that other people can watch the news reports that we all see, and then do nothing. Furthermore, you do understand helping people doesn't have to include money right? You can go to a rally, you can volunteer with missions to spend a year teaching in a third world country, which incidentally will be completely paid for by the group that hired you. It can't hurt to help.

That's not what I meant by seeing the real world. By real world, I mean living on their own completely independent, where they have to provide everything for themselves.

Aren't you his age? I thought you had to be older than the person you are ganging up on to grasp at the chance to let everyone know that you're superior.

Then say living independently, not seeing the real world. Seeing the real world is doing exactly as I described
I guarantee I won't. I've thought about being a CDC virologist since I was 12, when I watched the movie Hot Zone. Researching more into it has simply reinforced what I want to be. Which is why I'm taking classes specifically geared towards that, rather than just taking classes that sound fun.

Whenever you come give me a call, I'm 82,3% sure I won't kidnap you and demand ransom.

By the way, I know what a virologist is, but what's exactly CDC?

Let me rephrase. I guarantee you'll change your mind at least 3 times before your freshman year of college ends. Once you get out into the real world (and yes I do mean real world. Saying you've seen the real world because you go on vacation to different countries is like saying you've lived with a band of gorillas after seeing them in a zoo a lot) you're perspective will change.

Which I'd like to add isn't a bad thing and doesn't mean you're wishy washy or whatever. It appears to be fairly natural for most people, me included. I'm 18 and I change my mind all the time when I learn about new things.

You have just proven that you haven't seen the real world. I am older than you and have only ever left the United States to go to Canada a few times, and I've only been to Michigan to see family, and Florida for vacations in the past. You're too sheltered from the real world to understand things.
