I always found the Crusades to be Idiotic. "I kill you in the name of God, pretty much the same God that you have but what some diffrences" and out of all of them the Children's Crusade was the most idiotic.

The really sad thing is that in the end most of the Children ended up being sold into slavery.

That is true those poor misled children. King Louis IX probably thought there goes an entire generation of possible crusaders! UH! well time to throw more men into the meat grinder!
But seriously the only real successful ones where the first few.
Yet (I forget which crusade its either second or third) a leader from the Holy Roman Empire was going to lead a massive Crusade(a little over 100,000 men i believe) . He was an experienced commander an was supported by many, yet he drowned in a freak accident crossing a river. Most of his army lost heart and went home. How successful could he have been if he survived? Could the muslim world have resisted him?

The Muslims got their asses handed to them until the Christians lost interest and the Muslims started flipping their shit at the notion of losing everything they'd gained.

Definatley certain countries lost interest. only foolish old Louis IX of France kept throwing men into the meat grinder. Also Christians fighting christians and Muslims fighting Muslims undermined each others ultimate Goal

There actually was a pretty famous Dutch novel written, based on the Children's Crusade. Crusade in Jeans, I'm not sure if there's an English version too, but the movie was directed in English, and released outside of the Netherlands too.

No first reclaim Istanbul and make it Constantinople again! Bring the Hagia Sophia back to a church. Poor Byzantines, one minute there on top of the World the next they are overrun by the turks.
