Monarchs are symbols of national unity, they can affect things to good or bad.
For example, my mind, when thre was a lot unstability in Thailand recently, the king Rama IX (who's claimed to be the longest-reigning monarch of history) could have pledged his people to try and settle things.

So Waanzinnig om te Weten is the translation? Do you read the books yourself? I like Nick Arnold best out of the authors.

I've got one of Nick Arnold myself and I've read quite some of them. I've just found out about the TV series recently.

I have a crapton of them, both Dutch and English.

As for the monarchy, while they end up being profitable for England, here they just cost tons and tons of money. No one comes here for the royalty, only for the weed, and maybe the water works.

O'Reilly can be a lot more worse as an interviewer! Especially when talking to Richard Dawkins...

In the news today: The PVV actually gained 4 seats in the polls because of the incident with the hotline on Polish people. Can you imagine?!

Oh, shit. Don't get me started on O'Reilly! He's the core reason why not to be conservative.

An incident, you say? The PvdA lost 4 seats due to some "incident" about an article in a newspaper that caused quite some turmoil within their parliamentary caucus.

They weren't as stupid as the Inquisition, though, where they were killing eachother over different interpretations of Jesus.

No, what i am saying is, you should just look at the realty of the situation. The royal family has no real political weight and any "nationalism" they cause could easily be acheived without them. One of the major attractions to the UK is in fact the royal family. You have not countered my point about the royal wedding which clearly shows that foreigners(especially americans) are atrracted to the royal family, this inturn attract tourists who generate income. If nothing else, the royal family is an assest that pays for itself many times over.
