Our goal was to protect South Vietnam. When we signed the peace treaty, we had signed it with the terms that South Vietnam would remain independent. Therefore when we ended the war, we technically won.

She spelled your name wrong for a reason. Che was a genocidal maniac on the forums...

You keep saying this, but as Toast said, our goal was to prevent the spread of communism, and we failed.
Maybe its cause Mr. Carthage is a radical...

Yes now call her a jew and tell her how much you want her to die, Do it and become the next Che do it.

But anyways we did win (in terms of treaty) in terms of stoping communism we failed (tough are mission was only to stop the North from conquering the South, which we did and then a peace treaty was sighed and we didn't give a fuck)

Our mission was to protect South Vietnam. We succeeded when we signed the treaty.

If Winning means 60,000 dead Americans and many other civilian casualties and carpet bombing all the country's farmland and dropping agent orange that caused a lot of troops to have deformed babies as well as health problems of their own. Not to mention the Vietnamese civilians that still live with the consequences. The Monroe Doctrine stated that the United States goal was to keep communism where it is and help governments maintain thier democracy's which didn't happen.

But that was not our goal specificaly in Vietnam. Yes our overall WORLD goal was to prevent the spread of communism but our goal in Vietnam was to protect South Vietnam. WHEN WE SIGNED THE PEACE TREATY, IT WAS AGREED WITH THE NORTH THAT VIETNAM WOULD REMAIN INDEPENDENT. Then when we left, the North Vietnamese assholes backstabbed us and broke the treaty. So when WE ended OUR PART in the Vietnam War (conflict technically), we had ended it on WINNING terms.

Yes I agree. Technically we signed it on winning terms, but I dont think we won just that we did not lose.

Like others have said, I spelled it that way on purpose as you were sounding very much like a former member of this forum, CheFlegel. Though he would argue that America lost, saying "how stupid are you people?" when others are disagreeing with you is exactly something he would do.

The USA lost, just as France and China lost. Vietnam owns all.

Last I checked, China won that war. The countries that China backed still exist.

It was more like a stalemate.
By the way, slydessertfox, South Korea still survives, so does that mean we WON the Korean War?

That is a question of intent. China intended to preserve the nations under attack by Vietnam. They succeeded and Vietnam was beat back. Thus... victory.

Technically yes. But I am not trying to say we won in Vietnam. All I am saying is we did not lose.

So we tied. I thought history was written by the victor so that means there has to be a loser.History isnt written by two sides who draw.

That is assuming that the other guy is too dead to say anything. But the Chinese and the Vietmanese are VERY MUCH alive.
