It's the beginning months of WW1 and your a soldier. The only problem besides the horrible trench warfare machine guns being introduced and the tanks making their entrance onto the battlefield and poison gas in the air Zombies are in this scenario as the name implies. You can start off doing anything you want long as it's realistic and weapons wise you can have anything from this list! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_infantry_weapons_of_World_War_I
excluding anti tank guns and you can't have more than 4 grenades per person.

Karl Von Braun was a recruit of the German army. After he was deployed in the battle for the Town of Nancy. He had killed 3 enemies in the taking of the town two with his G98 rifle and one with his bayonette. After the battle he celebrated with his coreades and some beer.

Next day he was assigned for searching the town for french soldiers hiding in some houses. In one he has seen a monster with rotten flesh and gloving eyes. It had the uniform of a german soldier who ate the flesh of a french civilian. When the monster noticed him Karl was scared to death.
Then the monster started to walk towards him slowly dragging it's feet.
The monster almost bit him but Karl hit it with a nearby bottle. Then he reached for his rifle and shot the monster 4 times. It layed on the ground still grovling so he stabbed it in the head.

After the encounter he dropped the bodies in the basement of the house so no one can find them.

Benard was a Belgian General who had been captured in the early hours of the war during the German offensive against his forces in Liege. He was being taken into a temporary prison for all captured PoWs near Brussels. Benard himself had worked his way up from Private to General through both incredible luck and incredible skill. He had developed his skills in the Congo, where he attempted to "civilize" the savages in the jungle with some success.

Being a high priority target, he was being taken in the highest security Germany could provide, along with many other PoWs in a sort of convoy. The convoy buckled up and down on the dirt road, twisting and turning through the forest it crossed. But as they reached one bend the sound of a Hotchkiss blared into the quiet day.

Germans screamed orders at each other to get in position, but it was no use. Attacked from both sides they could do nothing to save themselves. Down to the last few men, they surrendered. None were spared.

Out of the brush came no less than 12 Belgian soldiers.
They said nothing, but one saluted Benard (no doubt recognizing his dress) as the rest of their troop began breaking the chains keeping all the PoWs imprisoned. By great luck, no Belgians were killed, and the now 21 man strong group was free to do as hey pleased.

"Sir, we are at your use." One said to Benard.

Alexander ''Alexei'' Fyodorovich Stravinsky was a soldier in the Russian Imperial Army. He participated in the invasion of East Prussia. During the battle of Gumbinnen he and his company were able to take a German trench after an intense fight.

During that evening Alexei explored the newly taken trench. While he was standing still to light his lantern he suddenly felt two ice cold hands around his neck. The hands grabbed his neck and tried to strangle him. He saw his blood red eyes burning fiercely.
Alexei tried to scream, but no sound was coming out of this throat. Then suddenly the hands released him. And out of the stranglers chest came a bayonet blade. When the lifeless body fell on the ground, Alexei saw Ivan gasping with a blood covered bayonet attached to his Mosin-Nagant in his hands...

After a while they examined the body and it was wearing a German uniform.

A day after Karl's encounter with the monster he still had nightmares of it. Some soldiers were spreading rumors that a german soldier killed his comrade and fench civilian and locked them in a basement. Karl tried to not get noticed that he done it.

After his assignment of guarding Nancy with his battallion they were ordered to make an attack on the town of Metz.

When he arrived the battle was raging and barbed wire and trenches were everywhere. For 12 hours they fought and then silence fell. The skies were grey and fog appeared.
That's when their commanders sent them out to take the enemy by surprise in the fog. Karl was running to the other trench and he heard gunshots far before they were close. The monsters returned and hundreds of corpses were walking into the enemy trenches. The germans looked scaredly at the french soldiers being eaten by their rotten comreds. Then one person shouted "Fire at the monsters!" So everybody shot them but not the french. The monsters were killed and the french said"Go back tell your commanders that we want to negotiate."
So everybody went back to their trenches and the commanders went out.

Karl looked around the others and everybody was scared and shocked at what they saw.

Andro Bavalic was a Croatian recruited into the Austro-Hungarian army at the beginning of the war to fight the Serbians. He was issued a Steyr-Mannlicher M1895 and sent with a regiment of Croatian and Bosniak soldiers to fight against the serbs. They were ordered to take the town of Zlatibor in the south from the serbians. Little resistance was given since most of the serbs were fighting in the north. Only 10 soldiers were killed. Andro killed 10 serbs and stabbed one other to death. Andro celebrated with his regiment for the successful capture. They "They" came. 200-300 monsters walked into the town from the southeast. They were wearing Bulgarian uniforms and they started eating the serbian corpses. Andro gave the first shot and hit it in the heart. It was bleeding out but it still moved for around a minute before going limp and dying. The others started eating its corpse. Andro started firing rounds and his comrades started firing with him. Luckily "They" were slow to move and "They" were gunned down quite easily. The lieutenant was getting attacked by more of them to the west and was eventually killed. After the battle, Andro took command as the commanding officer of the regiment. He ordered his troops to start moving back to Zagreb to warn the city there of the monsters. Andro called the monsters "zombies".

The news of the threat arrives to Berlin and Paris and both of the governments call a ceasefire and make their soldiers wear a blue armband to mark them as non infected if someone gets bitten they must pull it off.

The german and french troops both walk around freely between their trenches trading supplies and such.
Karl has been given a Mauser C96 for closer defense against the monsters.Their squad's been assigned to go back to Nancy to make defenses against the monsters becouse they came again in bigger numbers.

The defensive is centered north of the town with most of the roads barricaded or cut off with barbed wire.
The defense started at 5pm and the monsters' numbers were in the 500-700's.
Karl was a machine gunner in the streets. The monsters were slow but Karl's machine gun jammed and one of them was right in front of him. His reloader was bitten and Karl retreated but left his rifle at the machine gun post and reached for his pistol and started shooting them. He got his rifle and ran to an other defensive post to support them and tell them to retreat but they were owerwhelmed. He ran through the countryside to Metz to tell the others that Nancy is lost.

Jorg Fink was an Austrian reservist who had been called up to action. His division was tasked with investigating Bohemian villages which had not reported back to Vienna for two weeks now. As they marched on the first village on their patrol route, they saw devastation everywhere. Houses had their doors broken in, blood were all over the walls. They saw corpses of Hungarian soldiers, all had been shot up but they were few. Many soldiers retched and puked at the sight of this bloody battle. They saw footprints heading west, towards the city of Prague. So their commanding officer sent word to Vienna of what they saw and that the survivors may be heading to Prague. Jorg now moved with his comrades towards the rest of the villages, eager to find out what had happened in Bohemia.

Andro and his regiment reached Zagreb and were horrified. The city was burning and the Serbian flag was flying over the governer's building. Andro was tearing up at this site but he had to make a decision, wold he face the zombies, or would he face the Serbs. Andro ordered the recapturing of Zagreb from the serbs. His orders were no prisoners and kill all serbians you see. The recapturing took hours but it was a success. All prisoners captured by the Serbs were released and all serbian prisoners were executed. Andro was the executioner. 50 soldiers were lost but conscripts from the local populace quickly filled in the gaps. The regiment now estimated around 200-250 soldiers.
Andro warned the citizens about the oncoming zombie threat coming from Bulgaria and ordered everyone to lock down the city and turn the city into a fortress.

Benard's band of Belgians spent the next several days tearing up the German position in Belgium. Civilians would see them marching and join in, and soon the numbers swelled to nearly 150. Benard had begun making his night camps into small forts, with pickets and all. One night one of the pickets herd a grunt from the brush. Frightened, he shot at it. And out crawled a rotting corpse, still moving towards them. They gunned it down, until the red glow went from its eyes.

Benard coined it the "Black Death" after the Bubonic Plague. Benard knew he needed to take a city if he was to find any security, lest he stay in the wilderness until these... Monsters, eat him.

His troop marched for Ghent through the wilderness. They stayed off the major paths in fear of German patrols.

Lighthouse soon realises that he shouldn't have joined the Austrian-Hungarian army after seeing them kill civilians to get food and weapons for themselves soon he and 3 other soliders bribe a train engineer driving a train heading to Italy where they will discuise themselves as Itlian Soldiers so they can be on the ' good ' side. When they get to a bridge it soon collapses and the train falls into a Ravine killing several hundred Zombies.

When they regain consciousness one of them has died from impact and other got bitten, to afraid to shoot the last one dies. Lighthouse and the engineer makes a last stand with his Beretta Model 1918. The Engineer gets bitten on the left hand and has to amputate to stop infection before it reaches his spinal cord.

He and the engineer climbs his way up to the top of the passenger cars with a couple boxes of food and water, He remains there waiting for rescue. The engine of the train is supringly intact and the smoke from the wreck and the steam might alert the attention of somebody. Surely a passing Brigade will see them.

Zagreb has turned into a fort against the oncoming threat. trenches have been dug around the entire city and a militia of 1000 men has been formed to patrol and be stationed in the trenches. The citizens have not seen this much barbed wire and sandbags laid out in their entire lives. Zagreb is still in ruins from the Serbs, but its slowly rebuilding. Andro has become the commander of the militia and oversees training. "Aim for the head and heart to kill the monster" Andro says to the militia, "a headshot kills them instantly and heart shots kill them in 1 minute." The citizens are worried about food and supplies if they are going to hold out for months. Andro says that the problem will be solved at a later date.

Benard was nearing the city of Ghent, and as he approached he saw they flung the Flag of Truce. All reports from the war were of Germany having swept over Belgium was ease. Yet, their flag was white? Benard marched into the city to find it fortified in full. Yet, they did not fire on him, in fact, they welcomed him.

It appears the monsters had been more lethal than Benard could've ever imagined.
    As it goes:
A Class 1 Outbreak is isolated and limited only to rural fighting.
A Class 2 Outbreak is large, yet still manageable by local authorities.
A Class 3 Outbreak is a true threat to national security.
A Class 4 Outbreak is the complete breakdown of law and the fall of the country.
A Class 5 Outbreak is the death of 99% or more of all human life in the area.

The Western portion of the Black Death had formatted out of Bruges in Belgium. Fleeing Belgian peoples had brought the disease to France where it spread through the military supply lines and to nearly every major city in France.

In truth, France was on the verge of collapse.

German soldiers, realizing that Bruges was a lost cause, burned it to the ground. Zombies fleeing the city, for even they fear fire, were gunned down. Bruges, the birthplace of Benard was destroyed.

Ghent was turned into a fortress by the Germans in the area. They were planning on fleeing to Germany as soon as they got their comrades out from the trenches (where the disease was becoming ever more common).

"Abandon Belgium?" Benard said. As though it was absurd.
"Yes, it is too dangerous to sta-"
"NEVER! We Belgians are proud people." Benard began on a firey rage of patriotism. "We will never fall to these Devils!"
"Suit yourself. But if I were you I'd hurry. There is talk of a massive fort at Brussels. The Belgian Generals, or the ones still alive, are rally literally everyone to hold there."
"Then we shall spend the next 3 days collecting people from the nearby villages. Then together as one massive convoy we'll go to Brussels and hold out." Benard said.

Benard took over operations in Ghent from then on. His most trusted soldiers went to nearby villages and towns. Most of them were deserted or burning, but a few still had people who gladly went with Benard.

Etienne was a Frenchman that joined the Army shortly after the German invasion. During the battle of the Marne Etienne became cut off from the rest of his unit during the fighting. After an hour of trying to find his unit Etienne stumbled across some dead bodies along a road. He went over to the bodies and noticed that they were wearing German uniforms but something was strange about the dead bodies. He couldn’t find any gun shoot wounds; it looked as if the bodies were ripped apart. Then out of the corner of this eye Etienne noticed that one of the bodies seemed to of started to move. Etienne started to lift his Lebel rifle. Than all of a sudden the body lounged at Etienne and Etienne pulled the trigger of his rifle and killed it. Than two more bodies started moving, that’s when Etienne knew something wasn’t right these bodies were no longer humans but were some kind of monsters. Etienne socked at what he just saw stared running towards a small house that further up the road……….. To be continued.

Karl ran to Metz and he saw the town burning.
The moment he saw the german soldiers along french soldiers fighting the monsters he realised he needed to help the ones that are defenseless and not his country.

He reported the loss of Nancy to his commander. He was enraged by the loss but rewarded Karl with increasing his rank from private to corporal.

After the battle Karl wanted to ask the french and german leaders if he could get some men to help him secure the civilians and take them to a safe place. His commander replied"Maybe but where?"
Karl pointed to a castle in Belgium"There. If their government would agree with us and let us there hundreds of lives would be saved."

"I see what I can but don't expect a miracle" Said the commander

The first attack came at night. The fort survived but 100 men died or were infected and put down. Andro noticed that all his encounters with the zombies were at night. Andro thinks that the zombies attack at night and hide from the sun in the day. As long as the sun is shining, the zombies will not attack. Andro tells his men to watch for zombies on rainy days.

Benard soon made it to Brussels, although he had lost a few men on the way. One unlucky fellow had his gun jam, and his face was soon tore to shreds. He wasn't eaten though, he bled to death instead.

As he arrived he saw it in flames. It seems the defense, although strong, was not prepared from a threat on the inside. Sadly when people heard about the mega-fortress to save them all, they flocked there, bringing the disease with them. It wasn't long before the trenches, overwhelmed by an attack from the rear as well, began to turn into a giant slaughter house.

Things went to Hell fast. Although the zombies soon became just one of the worries. Fire spread like the town was covered in gasoline. It was thought that placing torches on your door might ward away the disease or a zombie, for they fear fire passionately. But some twats put their torches right next to things such as, tanks of gasoline, piles of firewood, and bails of hay. The fire department was out for the apocalypse, and couldn't put out the fire.

Soon after that, people became trapped in the city as zombies and fire filled the streets. People began killing each other for simple items like food and water.

But never the less, people prevailed. Safe houses had begun forming across the city. Soldiers and civilians alike took up arms to fight the infection. In a sense, it made the bloodiest of bloody battles seem like a walk in the park. Limbs and bones laying on the street. Half eaten bodies of fallen Belgians. Young, old, black, white, female, male, everyone was a target for these creatures.

Benard would not allow Brussels to fall.
"All true comrades will follow me into this Hell-hole!" He would say.
    Not many followed.

Benard and 20 of his soldiers, went into Brussels to fight and die until the city was liberated or ransacked.

Andro found an abandoned military radio station. It was probably abandoned after the Serbs invaded. Andro got some citizens to fix the broadcast tower. They got it working and Andro is sending out radio signals to all stations.

"This is Andro Bavalic, in the City of Zagreb. We are requesting support and supplies for the zombie invasion. These zombies look like walking corpses and attack humans at night. If there is anybody out there that can pick up this signal, please send supplies and support to Zagreb as soon as possible and return a message."

The battalion and I had finally arrived on the last village on our route. The other villages had experienced similiar fates to the first villages; destroyed, dead everywhere and footprints heading in various directions. As we marched over the hill however, we faced a different scene from what we had expected. We saw people attacking villagers, tearing them apart and consuming them. The local militia was being overwhelmed, their cheap rifles could not keep up with the slaughter. The battalion officer immediately ordered for us to prepare for battle. I brought up my Gewehr 1888 and checked to make sure it was loaded before getting into formation. Our officer guessed we faced a large group of these people but he was unsure of the militia's strength and remaining number of villagers. The battalion recieved the order to advance and so we marched in a clean formation. As we got closer however we heard screaming, moaning and gunfire which was slowly starting to be silenced. The strange men, wearing the uniforms of the Hungarian arm of the Dual army, turned to us and began to walk towards our formation. Their appearance was demoralzing, as their flesh was torn in some areas and uniforms were ragged, they walked in a slow shamble, some crawling. As soon as they got into a good firing range, the battalion opened fire at the group of people. It appeared to be ineffective though, as they continued to move unfazed. I was concerned but reloaded and continued to fire. The second volley appeared to do more, as some fell. However finally a militia member screamed," AIM FOR THE HEADS"! I changed my aim and killed the man and my comrades followed suit. Finally the people had died and we began to advance into town to look for survivors while the militia leader went to talk to our commanding officer. As I helped clean up the mess, I noticed as the two men talked, our officer had lost his colour. He called for a messenger and after talking to him, the messenger took off to the nearest telegraph station. I was left standing there, wondering what was happening.
