*clears throat*I have a dream.....that every day forum goers... and the mod overlords...can come to a compromise...on the issue....known as....thread locking.

Well now that the long and strenuous intro is over, let me tell you what I propose...

Instead of adding tons of regulations on what threads can be locked like my colleague Karakoran proposes, I propose something entirely different. Continue to let the mods lock whatever thread they feel needs to be locked. However, we should add a petition button on locked threads. If a certain amount of people press this petition button, the mods can discuss the possibility of unlocking the thread. Allow me to explain...

Chelsea believes that thread "x" needs to be locked. She promptly locks it. However, multiple people think that this thread should be unlocked. If lets say 5(?) people press the petition button (you could make it kinda like the report post button) then the mods shall unlock the thread and allow the discussion on the thread, (whatever it may be) continue on.

    What do you think?

so many people would just unlock a thread just for the sake of doing it, change it so that tribunes can unlock a thread. Then you PM them and they will decide if it was locked for no reson.

People will just do it to get the thread unlocked even if it deserved locking.
Also even if the thread did get a rightful petition, the mods would hardly ever unlock the thread.

Simply putting it, regulating the shit out of the modship to negate their trigger-happy locking would probably be a better idea.
Also, since when is locking a big deal?

Well then I should make it where they have to unlock it if there is enough petitions. Also, I will change it to 10 petitions. This will hopefully prevent the use of unlocking it for the sake of unlocking it

I think that this thread locking problem is going nowhere, since a thread was locked one time because people kept posting things that are against the rules, even after warnings, so there's no point in unlocking it because people would continue to post against the rules, it's like a snowball effect, one person starts then everyone gets into it, somebody has to stop it.

    Tribunes can unlock threads.

This post is hilarious. Since when is locking a big deal? Since you made it a big deal. *shakes head* Not even gonna bother with the rest of it. You spam threads and then complain when they get locked. We aren't some oppressive force, many other sites are much worse. We would unlock it if it truly deserved to be unlocked.

I was about to say since he made it a big deal as well.

If rules are brokenn multiple times and the thread is locked then this should not apply for those threads

I am honored to have semi-turned up the People's Assembly without hardly trying.

Other than that, they're hardly spammed. I mean it seems like someone saying inb4lock is cause for locking.
Also, that would be like some African government saying they're dictatorship is not opressive because North Korea is worse.
And no, you wont unlock. You'll sit around at a thread and convince eachother that it was supposed to be locked and then lock the request thread saying was resolved.

This is also laughable. This is not a country, comparing a forum to such is foolish. Here you actually have a chance to shape the rules. Some forums you wouldn't even be able to question staff without being banned.

She's right. Here we get the privilege of simply getting our asses chewed out by the mods respective cults and then having the thread locked because they derailed it.

In all fairness most threads, if not all, that are locked by mods were locked for a valid reason... so I see no problem.

Thread locking was only a serious issue when Che would spit his venom at everyone and anyone.

Actually locking has gone up a lot ever since Che left. It's probably just coincidence, but I wouldn't jump to conclusions and blame Che if I were you.

All i know is that every now and then that I logged on. All I could see was thread after thread with tons of pages with the Author being Che. Either he said something incredibly offensive or people were active in their posting that day.
