This is my position, and I think it reflects the position of the mods in General:

If you would like us to stop locking threads, stop giving us cause to lock threads. If you start derailing threads, or posting ridiculous "inb4 lock" posts, or just general spam then they will be locked. If you want to talk about sandwiches, go into off topic, not a thread about Quantum Mechanics. well.... not unless sandwiches are discovered to factor in to the theory. I live in hope that sandwhiches will one day be shown to make-up of the universe. Anyway now even I'm getting off topic.

What I mean is if eating sandwiches causes you to come out in a rash & you don't want rashes maybe you should stop eating them rather than continuing eating them and bitching about rashes. I love metaphors (and sandwhiches).

The threads aren't even that derailed a lot of the time, nor are they unsalvagable. And it's not like the members are the ones doing all the derailing. Sure they do more of it, because there's more of them, but mods, tribunes, even Stalin all do just as much derailing. The only reason it's not as common is because of preportions.

Anyway, why is a derailed topic a bad thing, again? Simply because the topic start has already been beaten to death doesn't mean we should keep beating the dead horse. As long as a thread has jumped from the OP to something else relevent, it's still a good discussion.

Anyway, it's not so much that, but eatting a sandwich and then being hit in the face because it was Chelsea's sandwich. You'll never convince apsolutly everyone to stop eatting sandwiches, so you mght as well stop hitting people in the face and have sandwiches for all.

Only a very few even seem to have a problem with this. Only a very few are making a big deal out of it and yes some of the people making a big deal out of it are some of the ones causing it. If you guys stop causing threads to be locked, we will stop locking them for the most part. Otherwise just find or start a new discussion. It isn't a big deal.

Tons of people want a reform. In fact, only like 5 people have spoken against it. 4 of which were mods and Romulus didn't even have a very strong opinion.
They're just split on what the reform should be and while very few support my methods, it's not to negate to the fact that many want change.

Also you clearly didn't read my post. Because Mods, Tribune, Stalin, Members, and everyone else all derails threads just as much, but because there are less Mods than Members the preportions are split. It's not entirly our fault.

If it was so popular why aren't more people coming out in support of it?

Other than mods, there's been like one or two members agaisnt it.

The reason is because no one views the People's Assembly thread because there's nothing going on most of the time. Every time there's a thread it just going into an arguement and then gets "resolved" and locked.

Well gather up enough support to convince the tribunes to bring it up and lobby for it....

Is this "petition button" he speaks of an easy addition to forum functionality? Because if not this isn't worth talking about.

I didn't see the need for a massive following with the Coffee House rule, or the now almost finished sig size rule. Why is it only when the members want something that there needs to be some massive forum uprising?

The sig rule is to prevent people from stretching the page by miles and that CH rule (which you can't even get warned for) was to decrease spam while your suggestion is to allow it more.

You're voice in regards to admin issues and trying to enact new legislation is the tribunes. It is then their job to fight for what you want them to. As of yet, you've yet to convince the tribunes that this is a big enough issue to be brought up. If you want change to happen you need to show that more then just a handful of users care.

Because they've seen what happens when you suggest things that allow for more member contribution (Think of the general public opinion of Link and Kara.), and don't want to paint a target on their own heads......

Those are extremely bad examples DD. Link and Kara have done way more than enough in other threads to make people not like them. It wasn't like Kara was perfectly loved and then suggested something and was disliked. No he got that for having radical beliefs.
