    No, I meant the fact that during the Spanish Inquisition, Jews from Spain were invited, and when they conquered the Balkans, Catholics were allowed to continue practicing. Meanwhile, at the same time in Europe, having anything bad to say about the Church had you ostracized and even whipped, and any Muslim lands that were conquered had their Mosques torn down.

    You've got a point there, but the argument still stands that in lands formerly owned by the Ottomans most of the Churches have stood standing for hundreds of years.

    They weren't a theocratic nation by any means, the actions of their muslims citizens doesn't speak for the nation and as far as I know, muslims actually take religion seriously.They were about one of the only Empires in history that actually didn't put religion as a factor on declaring war against people or simply killing people because of their religion, unlike some other countries *coff coff* Spain *coff coff*

    They also saw themselves as the new Muslim empire.
