Earlier today I watched a bullcrap T.V show about the "Best fighter plane" in history, they ranked the F15C Eagle 2nd, announced it's kill ratio as the best in history with no downed units, and placed it 2nd only to a world war 2 proppeller driven plane, mounted with 3 .50 caliber heavy machineguns on each wing.

What kind of bullshit is that? this is the best fighter plane in history? i'm pretty sure an advanced supersonic jet could take down a friggin' outdated world war 2 aircraft with a gun that fires thousands of rounds per minute mounted inside of it, over and over, with it's outstanding kill ratio.

Also later that day, the "Best sniper rifles" in history

I stopped watching after they ranked the AS50 fifth, as it was said to be the most tactically superior of any on another program.
I'm not sure if a company created an even more advanced weapon after the AS50 so don't flame me for not watching after listening to the other show.

They rank them based on it's comparison to contemporary weapons, be it fighter plane are sniper rifle. A Supersonic Jet might be better than a Prop Fighter, but the WWII era plane might have been the hottest shit around back in it's hay-day.

obviously, but then that bunk's it's statistic.

after ww1 wars have gotten less and less violent and more technologically advanced, so therefore you cannot create a statistic that far into the past, you couldn't do that a decade past either, what they should've done was base it on it's technological era, that way they don't need to look at their hay-day when comparing to different planes of their times, they just need to look at planes of their time and shake them out until they find their number one for that era.

we'd also learn more about shit we hadn't already known as well.

    They rate them for their

    Service length
    Fire power
    Fear Factor
    Innovation
    Protection

Basically if it was the best of the best of it's time it could be number 1 on the list.

I'd be okay with them showing WW2 material all the time, but they only provide the perspective of the fucking Americans. Very few docs actually show it from the other direction (Third Reich: The Rise/Fall is one example).

Well no country wants to look bad so they are bais. Also would you rather subtley brainwash the people you rule or incite them to riot over stuff and not support youre goverment with blind Nationalism. Although i do agree with enough WW2 stuff. It was interesting when it first came on but now it just bores the shit out of me.

You need to know there not doing based on time? cause a super sonic aircraft would rape a world war 2 mustang but when it came to getting the job down the mustang was the best.

But the military channel is pretty bias.
