    You don't need welfare.

    *Dissonance

Obviously spending more money lowers the amount you owe.

So you're not gonna tell me what you meant by "Go fucking make jobs" and how it relates to our conversation?

People say there's not enough jobs, yet it would be far from hard to start a private enterprise of some sort. Sure you wont form the next big steel mill or something, but opening a car wash seems far from impossible.

Yea, me and my buddy were looking into opening a water ice place out here (you jersey, pa, ny people will get what that is, but suffice it to say basically a cheaper version of an ice cream parlor) and to franchise (cheaper then starting your own business because the parent company helps you with the start up costs) they wanted about $330,000 in capital. But I'm sure these long term unemployed have that kind of cash sitting around to open up their own business

They are if you were responsible with your money. For instance my Dad pays back every debt he ever accumulates. Thus, he could get a loan any time he wants.

If you've been irresponsible and thus can't get a loan then it's your own fault.

This is America. You start with a Stick with a Nail and a Garbage Bag and you collect cans. You accumulate enough cans to buy a snow shovel. You shovel enough driveways to buy a bicycle and get a paper route. You deliver enough papers to open up a booth at the football stadium. You sell enough products from that booth to buy a storefront. Etc. etc.

I bet he couldn't take out a loan big enought o run a small business. It's a balance between assets and liability. The assets is basically your net worth and your expected income and what you can put up as collateral, and your liabilities is basically your credit score. When I applied for a small (5k) loan to pay off last spring's semester I was denied despite having a 720 credit rating. I was denied because I didn't have a job or any real assets. Just having a good credit score (which is hard to do when you're in poverty, my score is now in the high 500's despite the fact that I haven't made any credit based purchases that weren't school or living expense related).

When I meant work hard and they'll give you a loan for your business, I didn't mean be a bankrupt College Student. I refer to my previous post about the American Dream and shit.

You seem to pretend like I'm spoiled. Spoiled would imply that I expect things to simply be handed to me during my life, if anything that's exactly what I'm arguing against with welfare and other bollocks.

That was hilarious. Thanks Kara, you made my day(which is kinda sad if you think about it)
Do you understand how the real world works? Oh and do you know why it's called the American dream? It's because you have to be asleep to believe it!!!

I'm not saying you're spoiled. I'm saying your family's current economic standing combined with your young age is causing you to have a vary sheltered and unrealistic view of the world.

I think you said that when I was advocating coups too. Your a very twisted person.
Yes, it is sad. Your day must be terrible, I'm sorry.
    Yes.
    Ha, that's Punny.

Your right, the American Dream is disgusting. Wanting to stop spending money you don't have? EXTREMISM!

It's hardly sheltering to think that if I balls up my early life I'll be screwed for the rest of it. It would be sheltering to have 50 social safety nets and start a riot if a single one lost a single stitching.

Oh? But what happened to all that American Dream talk? Suddenly we've gone from "Anyone can do it at anytime!" to "Fuck up once and you're out for good.". You know Kara, its incredibly hard to have a conversation with someone who constantly changes tone.

FYI: It's incredibly sheltered to believe that you won't "balls up" at least once, or that anyone can just "set up shop" anytime they want.

And even if they do balls up, is that really what we as a human beings? Do we want people to suffer if they don't have what it takes? It's such a harsh position I can scarcely relate to it as an Englishman. We're proud of our universal healthcare and on the whole we support cushioning the fall with welfare. It's simply common decency. Putting others before ourselves, safe in the knowledge that if we screw up we'll have the same help that we gave others when they were in trouble.

Honestly I don't even consider it to be a matter of decency. More of a simple matter of human progress toward prosperity, taking steps in the right direction regardless of ideology.

Americans live--and collect Social Security benefits--for longer periods than when Social Security was created in 1935. Today, people who are 65 have an average life expectancy of 18 more years, and that is likely to continue to rise. Seniors today are more healthy and active than ever. We need to adjust our expectations to the times and recognize that we all have to work a few more years before retirement. That's the only way we can save social security and make sure it is available for us when we really need it.

Militarily speaking you are cutting with a meat ax at this stage, killing programs and weapons that will devastate our country's military readiness for decades. You'll also be doing severe damage to the U.S. defense industrial base and likely put hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work.
