In case you didn't know, the Middle Ages is about a thousand years long. You have to be more specific. Sometimes they were out conquering a new hemisphere, others they were dividing up the Roman Empire, others they were cruasding in the Middle East.
yea i know medieval era wasn't just about warfare.... i am asking because i don't about it...WTF wrong with you people? could you at least answer these: was there a lot of city state vs city state wars know any good books about medieval era that you could suggest to me how many peasants was there in a army
Dude, you get one negative reply, and you ask "WTF wrong wit you people?", and now you expect a normal reply? What is wrong with you?
No, Aside from a Few rebellious lords, counts, and Dukes, They wereent aloud to make war without asking the King, Also They werent called City states they were called Counties, Counties can have more then one City and a Duchy can have several Counties. I'm pretty sure you can ask your local Library Peasants? Do you mean Levies? Levies are made up of Militias which could number about 400 men a Company, A count usually had 1 levy and a Duke mostly had about 3 and a King could Call all counties and Duchy's to raise there Levies, However Peasants weren't the only warriors a Trade caravan would usually stop by a Military camp to sell Weapons Armour and Food if the current food was not to their liking also Knights and Horsemen companies were usually formed up by Noble men and Middle class Workers, Basically the people who could afford a horse. Anymore questions?
Wars of Frankish Expansion. (8th century) Anglo-Scottish Wars. (1200s) The Ascent of Islam (7th century in Spain)
lol, read the Oxford History of Medieval Europe and educate yourself. In my opinion, Medieval Europe was awesome. The politcs, dynasties, La Reconquista, Mongol Hordes, Seljuk Turks, Crusades, Holy Roman Empire, 100 Years War, Relgious Wars. What more could you ask for?
I am not asking specifics I am asking "in general" Like was it normal in a time period of 1000-1400 that city states were fighting each other?
If you have some questions, you can ask them, but for a basic overview this page could be useful. It might be a bit complicated, though. But you basically had one King at the head of a big empire, he was the suzerain, and he would give people counties (small provinces) if they would swear loyalty. Under it, there were the vassals, mostly counts, who would get the counties. They could have more than one county, and they could also give it away to others. Making them a vassal and a suzerain at the same time.
