Happy Thanksgiving and to all the people that don't know the story this is how it goes The modern Thanksgiving holiday traces its origins from a 1621 celebration at the Plymouth Plantation, where the Plymouth settlers held a harvest feast after a successful growing season. This was continued in later years, first as an impromptu religious observance, and later as a civil tradition. Squanto, a Patuxet Native American who resided with the Wampanoag tribe, taught the Pilgrimshow to catch eel and grow corn and served as an interpreter for them (Squanto had learned English while enslaved in Europe and during travels in England). Additionally the Wampanoag leader Massasoit had donated food stores to the fledgling colony during the first winter when supplies brought from England were insufficient. The Pilgrims set apart a day to celebrate at Plymouth immediately after their first harvest, in 1621. At the time, this was not regarded as a Thanksgiving observance; harvest festivals existed in English and Wampanoag tradition alike. It has officially been an annual tradition since 1863, when during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of thanksgiving to be celebrated. To go back to the OP "don't trust Whitie."
Pretty much the hole holiday is about eating (which is great for us Americans) Also we killed off most of the Native Americans in this country.
I'm just waiting for the videos of you Americans going bat-shit insane once the sales start tomorrow. Excellent entertainment.
I wonder if they celebrate Thanksgiving on the Reservations, that would be the greatest Irony EVER!!!
We have been celebrating Thanksgiving for about 100 years more than you have. I think your 1 month early.
Who says the Canadians ripped of your holiday, just because they were a bit later? YOU are the ones who ripped it of of THEM although that doesn't make any sense!
You post actually makes 0 sense considering the historical fact. "Thanksgiving" (I'm assuming it's called something else) was made a national holiday in Canada in the late 1950's. And until the holiday was made official there was a diminutive amount of time difference. Both were in fact in November until that faithful day when the Canadian parliament arbitrarily made the day a month earlier. The basic meaning for the holidays are still the same, the holidays are celebrated pretty much the same.
I wanted fresh footage of crazy people causing stampede over tacky shit this Friday. I got it. The injuries add a certain dark humour to the whole thing. Cheers, guys. See you next year!
