yes my queen, your are quite right. But still, it's silly to call it football, when the ball only touch the foot a couple of times in a game
Because the ball is kicked on a regular basis during a match. Regardless of what you may think, it's still the greatest sport the world has ever seen. Oh, wait. You were talking about that other sport, the weird American one?
You see because America wanted to be different and sound uneuropean while still being European, so hence they took a popular sport Futball and made it over here in a different sport, the Europeans that lived here where like "Omg they have Football here too, lets check it out, wait this looks like retarded people playing rugby wrong" and then the Europeans who later became Americans learned to love retarded Rugby. And that is how Football (american) was born, via Rugby and Soccer.
I informed myself on the matter for a few minutes, and here is what I learned (it may be a little off...) At the beggining (lol), there was no strict rules on football, and everyone played it based on some 'local' rules, with few objectives and regulations as standard. One day some people decided to write a set of rules, creating a national sport, something that could be played the same way anywhere. But some other people didn't actually liked it, and thought the way they played was better. They started developing their own rules, based on how they thought the game should be played, and gained some supporters. These were the people on the football club (or whatever) from the city of Rugby, and the sport they created was known as Rugby Football. Now, what the hell does this have to do with American Football? I think it's clear that American Football was created with rugby as base. So I'm just estabilishing the link: old Rugby Football and American Football are variations of the same sport 'current' Football was also based on, they all have the same origin. Of course, after so many changes on rules, game style, bla bla, the name may seem a little off... Rugby, for example, is not known as football anymore. I guess english people had common sense to change the name of the sport to avoid confusion, and had no objection to it since the old name was not actually good to describe the sport anymore. Americans, on the other hand...
I'm Mexican i don't have to deal with that since Spanish is my first language I can say Futbol and refer to soccer and say football to refer to football, so HA I win!!!
Football is called football because it shoves its foot up people who cry about futból's asses. Yes I used the áccént because I could.
Well you see a vast majority of us Americans call it soccer anyways and seeing as we will never truly embrace soccer in our country anyways we really don't see a need to make any changes
why do they call it superbowl anyway, it would make much more sence to call it superball. superbowl is somshing you should call a bowling turnament.
1) They didn't invent the forward pass for the first 30 years so the game looked completely different when the thing first came out. 2) Fafe is right, American football is essentially a combination of rubgy (which also grew out of soccer) and various local games 3) I think the super bowl has to do more with the college football (college is where american football was born) tradition of playing in post-season "bowl games" rather then normal championship games
Actually the term "Super Bowl" came in play with the merger of the NFL and the AFL. The respective Champions of the two leagues (now called Conferences) played in this game to find out who is the World Champion (because thats how Americans roll xD). The first was played in 1966, with the NFL Green Bay Packers beating out the AFL Kansas City Chiefs. I actually like American Football, especially the Oakland Raiders and the Detroit Lions. Allthough I prefer "real" football
An american football isn't egg shaped its a prolate spheroid. So it should be called tackle/hand spheroid. (wrote a rapport on spheroids)
