Does anybody know when the multiplayer portion of the Mass Effect 3 demo is going to be released? If you didn't know already, anybody who preordered BF3 has gotten a pass to download the multiplayer beta for ME3, but I have no way of knowing when I can play it. Battlelog is not going to tell me any time soon. Any information will be greatly appreciated
I'm almost certain that I read from an official source that it was going to be January sometime. EDIT: Yeah I remembered right, it has been confirmed by Bioware themselves that the beta will go out to everyone sometime in January, and People who bought the limited edition of Battlefield 3 will get early access, much like limited edition Medal of Honor purchasers bot early access to the Battlefield 3 beta. https://twitter.com/#!/masseffect/status/127170630889119744 My info worth appreciating?
Sweeeeet. Thanks It doesn't seem like it would follow the RPG roots of the ME universe. I would assume at this point it would be about battles on Earth and nothing else. Or, we may see kick-ass space warfare, ships docking with one another and invading each other, that would be awesome. I am very excited for this, and the single player game itself.
Multiplayer in ME3 will be in the form of a series of 4 player co-op missions that will be integrated with singleplayer. Completing the missions will bring benefits to your singleplayer campaign, although it is still very possible to achieve a full "perfect" singleplayer ending without touching multiplayer. The story context is that Shepard is sending teams off to other planets to fight for control. You will not be playing as Shepard or indeed any of the singleplayer campaign characters, but instead have the opportunity to play as other races, currently confirmed are Asari, Drell, Krogan, Turian, Salarian as well as human, plus there have been strong hints that there will be more playable races yet to be revealed. Expect it to be somewhat similar to horde mode from Gears of War - you will be battling waves of enemies, with some mini missions in between (random stuff like shutting down terminals, defusing bombs etc). As you progress you can upgrade your weapons with parts like you'll be able to do in the singleplayer campaign. You'll also be able to keep track of your galactic progress on iOS and Facebook.
Holy crap! This is nothing like I expected, I thought it was going to be player versus player. Thank you for that, Ironchin.
Just letting anyone know that the beta goes live on February 14. More importantly, if you play the Kingdom's of Amalur: Reckoning demo (free and live now, on all platforms), you get free DLC for Mass Effect 3. (And vice versa if you're into that) Also, for those that didn't already know, Mass Effect 3 will be exclusive to Origin, and will require Origin running in the background. Their reasoning was the same as for Battlefield 3 - EA claims Steam doesn't give them enough freedom and flexibility over DLC distribution.
F-f-fuck yeah! (although, they said January) By the way, which DLC did they say? I pre-ordered the Collectors Edition, does that mean I get the DLC mentioned here, or is that a different one.
The DLC is "exclusive", I'm assuming that means you won't get it through pre-ordering, though it will probably be available later on the Cerberus Network for a small fee. You get 2 things, Reckoner Knight Armor and a Chakram Launcher. "The Reckoner Knight Armor will maximize damage done in close-quarters combat while a beefed—up power cell feeds energy into weapon systems to increase projectile velocity." "The Chakram Launcher uses a fabricator to manufacture lightweight, explosive ammunition discs." Booting up the demo gives you the armor, while completing the demo, including the tutorial quest, the subsequent 45 minutes of free play time and viewing the trailer at the end grants you the launcher. You will need to link your EA/BioWare account to your game to register the promotions.
Shit, will I need my EA/Origin to be able to play the demo before, as stated by the BF3 preorder offer? I'm having problems with that, so if I do, I might as well do my best to fix it. Edit: I may as well state I am a console player.
So, to be able to use the code, given to me by pre-order, I have to have my EA/Origin linked to my Xbox Gamertag?
