    Well, mostly because of the Marshall help.

    Not as powerful as before WWI, though. I'd rather be a puppet of Germany than the US, which we are today.

    I admire Albania, back when the Ottomans were on a rampage conquering the Balkans, this little nation managed to beat them back and it's only because of disease they lost in the end.

    The NATO is an alliance. It's not hard to draw the line, a nation is another nation's puppet when their internal politics are controlled by that other nation, and sometimes the government has been installed by that nation. Neither of which has happened here.
